🚨❄️ Blizzard Warning – Onset Fire Department ❄️🚨

The Onset Fire Department is advising all residents of a significant winter storm expected to impact Eastern Massachusetts.

🌬 EXPECTED WINDS:
• Eastern MA: Sustained strong winds with gusts over 60 mph
• Coastal SE MA: Gusts near 70 mph
• Cape & Islands: Gusts possibly reaching hurricane force (75 mph)
• Peak winds expected early Monday morning through Monday afternoon

🌨 EXPECTED SNOWFALL:
• Eastern MA is expected to receive a swath of 18–24 inches of heavy snow
• Whiteout conditions and drifting snow are likely

⚠️ What to Expect:
• Downed trees and power lines
• Power outages
• Hazardous and potentially impassable roadways
• Delayed emergency response times due to conditions

👨‍🚒 Department Status:
The Onset Fire Department will be initiating a full department recall to ensure adequate staffing levels to handle emergencies throughout the duration of the storm. Apparatus and personnel are prepared and ready to respond.

🏠 Resident Safety Reminders:
• Avoid travel during peak storm conditions
• Secure loose outdoor items
• Charge electronic devices
• Have flashlights and batteries readily available
• Check on elderly neighbors and family members

We remind residents to stay off the roads but if you must please use caution while traveling, clear snow away from hydrants and vents, and call 911 for emergencies only.
