🚨 MESSAGE FROM THE CHIEF OF DEPARTMENT🚨

I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to every member of our department who answered the call during the Blizzard of 2026.

The extreme conditions we operated in heavy snowfall, powerful winds, and prolonged power outages tested our endurance and commitment. Despite these challenges, our members worked tirelessly to protect our community, assist with power restoration efforts, and ensure access to areas that were otherwise unreachable due to significant snow accumulation. Your professionalism, resilience, and dedication to public safety did not go unnoticed.

This storm response was truly a team effort. We are deeply appreciative of the strong partnerships and coordination with:
• Onset Water Department
• Onset Prudential Committee
• Onset District Administration
• Wareham EMS
• Wareham Fire Department
• Wareham Municipal Maintenance
• Wareham Emergency Management
• Town of Wareham Administration
• Wareham Police Department

Your collaboration, communication, and shared commitment to serving our residents were instrumental in navigating this historic storm safely and effectively.

To our firefighters, call members, interns, officers, and mutual aid partners thank you for your unwavering dedication to the community we proudly serve.

Respectfully,

Jeffrey Osswald
Fire Chief

Unless you have an emergency or you are an essential worker, there is no reason to be driving today. Emergency vehicles are having a difficult time responding to calls due to “stuck” vehicles. The roads are NOT plowed and cannot be traveled on. We urge everyone to STAY HOME so plows can plow and first responders can respond to emergencies.
