One of the First Funeral Homes in New York City!
In 1832, when our great, great grandfather Samuel Benedict opened his business in Greenwich Village, New York City he called it an undertaking parlor. He started as a church sexton, arranging funerals for members of his congregation. A generation later, America called upon his son, Charles A. Benedict, to arrange the funeral of President Garfield after his assassination in 1881. Charles answered his country’s call again, in another time of sorrow, arranging the pallbearers for President Grant’s funeral in 1885.
Inside, a welcoming fireplace accents the private arrangement conference room, and the warm décor creates comfortable groupings of furniture for quiet conversation. There are private family lounges, a special children’s room, an elevator, restrooms, and ramp for the physically challenged. Three separate chapels are available to accommodate almost any size gathering.
Outside, the grounds are beautifully landscaped, with ample well-lighted parking, and convenient access for persons of all ages.
Your comfort is our family’s most important concern. Over the years, our funeral home in Westchester County has carefully preserved the historic character of our funeral home, while continuously renovating to offer the utmost in convenience and accommodation.
