Sweet Flow Yoga with Heather

Sweet Flow Yoga with Heather Yoga's not about perfecting a pose, it's about doing what's perfect for you -- whether it's building strength, releasing tension, or cultivating peace.

Sweet Flow is a Community Yoga Movement centered in Northampton and Easthampton, MA. I'm a professor of philosophy and have been teaching yoga, meditation, and Eastern philosophy in university classes and at colleges since receiving my PhD in 2007. I received my Yoga Alliance yoga teacher certification from Yandara Yoga in Bali, Indonesia and I love to weave together humor, strength, flexibility, and philosophy into fun yoga classes that are intended to build community and sharing. Some of my classes are offered by donation because I believe in cultivating a freely giving and sharing spirit that's at the heart of a true yoga practice. Check out my paper "Why Are You Standing on My Yoga Mat?!" published in Yoga -- Philosophy for Everyone: Bending Body and Mind and "Is Enlightenment Dependent Upon God?" in The Philosophy of Spirituality. "I highly recommend Sweet Flow Yoga as a fun way to enjoy a healthy workout and be around friendly people. As a guy who's a beginner at yoga, I found her class more inviting than most classes I've tried. She gives people the opportunity to push themselves while also creating a nurturing and relaxed atmosphere. It feels like a bunch of friends doing yoga together with an expert leader." -Kyle Hoffman

Remember group therapy from back in the 70s and 80s? I'm going to be doing some FUN therapy groups to provide greater peace, connection and insight right here in the center of Easthampton.

First up is a monthly mindfulness and yoga group with guided reflection and discussion. I'll incorporate therapeutic techniques to deepen your experience and insight.

Insurance for groups is often free or low cost. Most insurance accepted: Aetna, Carelon (WellPoint, Wellsense, Fallon, Navicare), BCBS of MA, Tufts, Harvard Pilgrim, Optum. Self-pay is $35 and and receipts can be provided for potential out of network reimbursement.

When I'm doing yoga I know I'm contributing to the heath of my body, mind, and spirit. I feel it right there, in the moment, and then hours afterwards. Do you want to join our yoga community? Outside in a shaded garden overlooking a mountain in summer and fall. Inside in winter and spring.

Our Story

Sweet Flow Yoga is an athletic style of power yoga with a strong focus on fun and community centered in Northampton and Easthampton, MA. Heather has been teaching yoga, meditation, and Eastern philosophy for 11 years and has been a practicing yogi for over 20 years. She loves to weave together humor, strength, flexibility, and philosophy into fun yoga classes that are intended to build community. She has copious experience with those new to yoga, as well as those who’ve been practicing their whole lives. Those who don't consider themselves naturally strong and flexible quickly reach their potential in her classes. Sweet Flow Yoga always has low priced classes because Heather believes that community and sharing is at the heart of a true yoga practice.

Heather is a professor of philosophy at Western New England University, where she teaches Ethics, Philosophy of Mind and Eastern Comparative Philosophy. She has published several academic papers on Indian philosophy and yoga and has edited and contributed to the forthcoming book, The Philosophy of Spirituality (Brill Press 2018). She received her Yoga Alliance yoga teacher certification in Bali, Indonesia. It feels like a bunch of friends doing yoga together with an expert leader. -Kyle Hoffman"
