We support people in our community who are facing end-of-life and life-limiting illnesses. We offer bereavement services to all in the community regardless of whether you died on our services. March is Social Work Month, a time to recognize the incredible compassion, guidance, and support our social workers provide every day. They walk alongside patients and families through some of life’s most difficult moments, offering comfort, resources, and advocacy when it matters most. We are grateful for the dedication, empathy, and heart our social work team brings to hospice care and our community.

In their own words, our social workers reflect on the impact of compassionate care:

"The social workers at Talbot Hospice are a dynamic team dedicated to providing our patients and their loved ones compassionate care, a comforting presence and end of life education as they navigate the journey of transitioning.

People may not realize - that hospice social workers are available to answer questions prior to when you think you might be ready for hospice. Our team will ask the difficult questions, have the difficult conversations, and guide patients and families in making decisions that respect patient's wishes.

We want families facing hospice care to know that the social work team will "meet you where you are". We will listen to your individual needs & develop a plan of care with you & your family that serves your goals. We are always open to listening, answering questions, providing support and linking you to resources that will make your end of life journey the best experience possible. We want you to know that you matter!"

Women Supporting Women & Men Supporting Men: 8-week Spousal Loss Support Groups

Talbot Hospice invites those who have experienced the loss of a spouse or significant other to join Women Supporting Women AND Men Supporting Men, compassionate and supportive 8-week groups.

These groups will assist in understanding the journey grief. Grief is messy and unpredictable. Grief does not follow a straight line to healing; there are no time frames or rules. What is important is that your grief is acknowledged and validated. Talbot Hospice looks forward to offering a safe place for you to share your grief. Together, we’ll share stories, explore the grieving process, and find healing in the strength of community.

Women Supporting Women: Every Tuesday 10:00 am, starting 2/24/26 and ending 4/14/26.

Men Supporting Men: Every Tuesday 2:00 pm, starting 2/24/26 and ending 4/14/26.

Please note that following our March 10, 2026 meetings, we will no longer be able to accept new participants into these support groups due to the structured nature and duration of the program. If you are interested in learning more or would like additional information about our support groups, please contact Lindy Barton at lbarton@talbothospice.org.

🌟 Volunteer Spotlight: Lisa Wilson 🌟

Meet one of our newest volunteers who helps make a difference for our patients and families every day!

When did you start volunteering with Talbot Hospice?

I completed my Hospice volunteer training in October 2025 and started the training to volunteer at the reception desk in November of last year. I look forward to exploring continued volunteer opportunities in 2026.

What drew you to volunteer for Talbot Hospice?

Many years ago, a friend and colleague shared a story about her volunteer experience with hospice and expressed how meaningful and rewarding it was to volunteer with them. I knew in my heart that someday I wanted to volunteer for such a worthwhile organization. Fast-forward almost 20 years later when I saw a social media post for the Fall volunteer training with Talbot Hospice. I knew that it was time for me to get involved!

One fun fact about you!

Once upon a time, I had the great fortune to work at Walt Disney World and live in Snow White Village.

Yesterday was an exciting and meaningful day for Talbot Hospice!

Our Executive Director, Molly Kirsch, joined lawmakers at the Maryland House to provide testimony in support of hospice reform legislation alongside Delegate Thomas S. Hutchison. Molly spoke before the Health Committee to express strong support for establishing Medicaid reimbursement for room and board in licensed residential hospice facilities, an important step toward expanding access to compassionate end-of-life care for patients and families across Maryland.

We are also incredibly proud of our Chaplain, Jody Gunn, who opened the Maryland Senate floor session with a heartfelt and moving prayer, setting a thoughtful tone for the day’s work and reminding all in attendance of the importance of service, compassion, and community.

We invite you to watch both special moments:

🎥 Jody’s opening prayer (timestamp 0:16) https://www.youtube.com/live/B4YobkiHkxI

We are grateful to help represent our hospice community and advocate for care that supports dignity, comfort, and compassion for all Marylanders 💙

Volunteer Training Coming Up Soon!

The work of Talbot Hospice would not be possible without our volunteers! If you can think of a job, our volunteers do it - staffing our reception desk, sitting with patients, grocery shopping & preparing meals, assisting with administrative tasks, gardening and much more!

Our next volunteer training is coming up this fall. If you've always wanted to be a hospice volunteer, now is a great time to join us.

When did you join the Talbot Hospice team?
I joined Team Talbot Hospice on 1/5/26!

What drew me to hospice care?
What really drew me into hospice was a combination of family influence and who I am as a person. I’ve seen firsthand, through my family, how powerful compassion and presence can be during some of life’s hardest moments. Those experiences stayed with me. I’m naturally empathetic and a people oriented person, hospice allows me to truly connect with individuals and families, listen to them, and support them in a meaningful way. Being able to bring comfort, dignity, and companionship at such an important time feels like the most purposeful way I can serve others.

One thing I’d really like the community to understand about hospice is that hospice is about honoring people, not just caring for an illness. It’s about being present, listening, and supporting individuals and families through one of the most meaningful seasons of life. Hospice helps people feel seen, valued, and surrounded by compassion, and that can all make a big difference.

What is one fun fact about you?
One fun fact about me is that I’m extremely hilarious and very creative!
