Channel Marker, Inc. Building Trust, Hope, and Dignity

Founded in 1982, Channel Marker provides mental health and wellness support for adults and youth with severe mental illness in Caroline, Dorchester, and Talbot counties. Through a wide range of on-site, residential and community based services specifically tailored to the needs of each client, more than 55 clinical and mental health services staff serve an average of 400 clients each year. Funding for our work primarily comes from Medicaid with support from generous members of the community, the State of Maryland, and private foundations.

JOIN US ON FEBRUARY 26 AT 12 NOON TO SUPPORT THE KEEP THE DOOR OPEN RALLY IN ANNAPOLIS

The need for mental health and substance use care continues to grow, and together, we have an opportunity to ensure that no one is turned away when they reach out for help. Community-based services and public programs are lifelines for millions of Marylanders and with the right investment, they can continue to change lives.

On February 26 at noon, advocates from across the state will gather on Lawyer’s Mall in front of the State House in Annapolis to stand in support of the more than 1M Marylanders living with mental health or substance use challenges.

This is a moment for us all to come together, show up for our communities, and remind our leaders what is possible when we prioritize care, dignity, and access.

We are urging the General Assembly to strengthen funding for mental health and substance use services so these critical doors remain open to all who need them.

Su***de can touch anyone – and yet, many of us aren’t sure what to say or do when someone might be at risk. That’s why LivingWorks created LivingWorks ASIST over 40 years ago – to empower ordinary people to provide lifesaving help in extraordinary moments. Across more than 30 countries, millions have been trained in LivingWorks ASIST to recognize signs of su***de, offer compassionate support, and connect people to safety.
This isn’t just training – it’s community-wide readiness.

The way you choose to care for yourself, honor your needs, and speak to yourself each day matters. When you build peace within, everything else becomes an addition, not a requirement.

Choosing happiness doesn’t mean everything is perfect—it means you’re deciding to look for the light even on difficult days. Joy is a choice you can make, one small moment at a time. 🩷
