This is your reminder that not all “fat” is the same.

Conditions like lipedema and Dercum’s disease are often misunderstood, misdiagnosed, or completely dismissed—and the women living with them are told to just “lose weight” when that’s not the root issue.

But what you’re looking at here isn’t just a visual change.
It’s a shift in how the body is functioning.

With the right approach, massage can:
• Improve lymphatic movement (which is often sluggish or impaired in these conditions)
• Reduce pressure and inflammation in the tissue
• Support circulation in areas that feel dense, painful, or “stuck”
• Help the body process and move excess fluid more efficiently
• Decrease pain and tenderness over time

And here’s the part people don’t talk about enough—
this work is not just light, surface-level touch.

The body doesn’t always respond to “feather light” techniques when the tissue is fibrotic, congested, or holding onto inflammation. It requires intention, understanding, and knowing when to work deeper vs. when to support the lymph.

Most people think their neck pain comes from a “knot” or sleeping wrong — but for 80% of clients at The Ritual, the real issue has nothing to do with the neck.

Here’s what’s actually happening:

✔ Tight ribs restrict breathing → which pulls on the neck
When you breathe up into your shoulders instead of your ribs, the neck becomes overstimulated.
