The job teaches you to rely on your crew.
But what happens when that connection starts to fade?

For first responders and veterans, community isn’t just a benefit - it’s a lifeline. Yet too often, we see individuals slowly shift from “I’ve got my people” to “I’ll handle this on my own.” That transition into isolation is where burnout, substance use, and mental health challenges begin to take hold.

At Rebuilding First Responders Program, we believe recovery isn’t just about treatment - it’s about rebuilding the kind of community that makes this work sustainable. A place where you don’t have to explain the job to be understood. A place you can always come back to.

We put together a piece on why this matters more than ever:

If you’re in the field - or supporting someone who is - this is worth the read.

🚨 Evening IOP is Back — Built for the Realities of the Job 🚨

At the Rebuilding First Responders Program, we understand something that most treatment settings simply can’t:

First responders don’t live on a 9–5 schedule.

Between shift work, overtime, court, call-ins, family responsibilities, and the constant pressure of the job — flexibility isn’t a luxury…

It’s a necessity.

That’s why we’re proud to officially re-introduce our Evening Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) — designed specifically to meet first responders and veterans where they are, without disrupting their lives or careers.

🕕 Evening IOP Hours: 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Trauma-informed, culturally competent care — built exclusively for the responder community.

We also have exciting news:

✅ We now accept ALL major insurance carriers
✅ And we are officially in-network with WellSense — a major step forward in expanding access to care across Massachusetts.

If you or someone you work with has been carrying too much for too long, this is your reminder:

Support exists. Treatment can fit your life. And confidentiality comes first.

To learn which evenings are currently available and how to enroll, reach out directly to our team.

Gambling addiction is one of the most rampant - and least talked about - struggles facing first responders and veterans in Massachusetts.

It doesn’t usually show up drunk or high. It shows up quietly - in apps, scratch tickets, late nights, and secrecy - until the moment everyone finds out and everything feels like it’s collapsing.

You don’t have to wait for that moment.

Early, confidential treatment can change the outcome - for you and for your family.

We see it every day. And we treat it directly.

Brick by brick - that’s how the walls get built.

Years of showing up. Holding it together. Doing the hard things so others don’t have to.

For first responders and veterans, toughness isn’t optional - it’s part of the job. But over time, the same walls that keep you effective in the field can quietly create distance at home, in relationships, and within yourself.

At Rebuilding First Responders Program, we see those walls come down every day - not by force, but through trust, shared experience, and real work alongside peers who truly understand the weight of the job. Treatment isn’t about losing your edge; it’s about learning how to carry the job without it carrying you.

When those walls come down, the impact doesn’t stop with the individual. Families reconnect. Communication improves. Home life becomes steadier.

Strength becomes sustainable.

This work isn’t a failure - it’s a reset.

And it’s one that benefits not just you, but everyone who stands beside you.

Yesterday morning at TD Garden, our team was honored to be part of the BFit Challenge, even with a big snowstorm threatening to shut things down. The Boston Bruins and Boston Bruins Foundation put on such an amazing event.

The weather held just long enough, and first responders and veterans showed up in force for a cause that truly matters. Huge shout-out to Dana DeLorenzo for running the 5K, and a big thank you to the LND Foundation - especially Casey - for inviting us out.

It was great seeing so many familiar, friendly faces and being reminded (once again) how strong this community really is. Even in tough conditions, people showed up for one another - and that says everything.

Such a well-run, impressive event. We can’t wait to be back next year with our own table representing the Rebuilding First Responders Program.

What Happens When First Responders Heal Together

Something special is happening inside the Rebuilding First Responders Program - and it’s not something you can fake, manufacture, or replicate overnight.

We’re watching alumni come back - on their own time, between shifts, family commitments, and real life - to sit with current participants and talk honestly about what life looks like on the other side of treatment. Not theory. Not clichés. Real conversations about how they use the work they did here every single day.

That kind of return doesn’t happen because of branding.

It happens because the walls get broken down - brick by brick - through deep group work, relentless honesty, and therapy that meets people where they actually are. Sledgehammers instead of band-aids.

What’s even more powerful?

Current and former participants are telling their colleagues - their brothers and sisters - about the changes they’ve experienced. About the relief. The clarity. The ability to show up again at home, at work, and in their own lives. The proof is in the pudding… and there’s plenty to go around.

When alumni walk back through these doors, it says everything:
This space is safe
This work lasts
This community doesn’t disappear when treatment ends

This program has become more than a place to get help.
It’s become a landing spot - for health, for accountability, for connection, and for long-term wellness.

Family gets built here.

And once you’re part of it, you’re never really doing this alone again.

One of our favorite partnering organizations came by on Friday last week to drop off some blankets for the veterans and 1st responders. We are so grateful for the work Linda Kokoros , Jay Bailey and HOPE beyond the badge do for our community - always volunteering their time to come in and not just gift these thoughtful blankets, but also speak to their experience amongst the patient community. Their organization does some truly amazing work - thank you Linda and Jay!

First responders and veterans carry things most people will never see.

Real healing happens when the people providing care truly understand the culture, the job, and the weight that comes with it.

At Rebuilding First Responders, our team includes first responders, veterans, and clinicians who’ve lived these experiences — and then dedicated themselves to learning how to help others heal from them.

This work isn’t just about treatment.
It’s about responsibility — for the individual, their family, and the support systems standing behind them.

📖 Our newest blog dives into why cultural competence matters so much in first responder and veteran care.
