Move over Italy, the real Olympic games were at ICAL and the competition was REAL. From darts and basketball to shuffleboard and Mind Olympics, every resident “qualified” and came ready to win.

Gold, silver, and bronze medals were awarded — along with lifelong bragging rights. But it’s not about winning (it’s definitely about winning.)

While it’s cold outside, the best way to stay warm is to get up and get moving! We’re so grateful for our partnership with PowerBack Rehabilitation, who provide physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech & language therapy right here at Island City Assisted Living. One thing they’re always great at? Keeping us active and engaged. This week, movement met fun with full-size Tetris—working on spatial skills, flexibility, coordination, and even our throwing arm!

Nothing makes us smile more than an 8-week-old puppy. Our Chef, Steve, brought in his “heart” to visit our residents, and let’s just say… everyone fell in love instantly. The reactions were priceless and the joy was contagious. Enjoy our pictures of baby Maddi Madison.

We thought our senior residents would enjoy a nice little afternoon New Year’s party. Turns out, our residents partied harder than the average 20-something and made it very clear they weren't going to bed early. Huge thanks to Rob and Steve from Baseline Band, Bob Bryan from Bryan Music, and our incredible staff for helping ring in the New Year in style. Our residents blew us away with their energy, joy, and stamina. Now that’s how you welcome the New Year!

We have a Door Decorating Contest Winner! Congratulations to Betty on winning 1st place, with Nina taking 2nd and Dick earning 3rd. We had so much fun watching residents and families decorate, and our staff loved adopting doors to help make our community extra festive. Thank you to everyone who participated—the doors looked fantastic!
