“Friday the Thirteenth is linked to the thirteen cycles of the moon in a lunar year. A woman generally has thirteen cycles within a year and often ovulates on or near the thirteenth day of each month’s cycle. Thirteen is a number long associated with feminine power and mystery, and Friday is the day of the Goddess, being both Freya’s day, and the day ruled by Venus.

During the women’s holocaust that spanned the 1400’s through the 1600’s, feminine wisdom and power was suppressed, maligned, and punished by torture and death. Thus, the secret feminine power of the day was obscured by cover-up propaganda.

Men in power, fearful of and threatened by divine feminine energy, decreed such energies as witchcraft. Heinrich Kramer and Jacob Sprenger published their Malleus Maleficarum, a handbook designed to identify, convict, and execute women labeled as witches.

As we reclaim the Divine Feminine, women’s wisdom, and women’s empowerment, we transform Friday the Thirteenth from an “unlucky” day into the sacred day of Feminine Power, enlightenment and healing it was originally associated with.”

She Lifts the Moon

Beneath the quiet breath of pine and water,
she stands where night begins to listen.
Her hand rises slowly toward the sky,
as if the moon were a memory she once held.

Silver light gathers in her open palm,
not to be taken, but to be greeted—
like an old relative returning
on soft feet of glow and silence.

Her shawl carries the language of wind,
fringes whispering stories into the dark,
patterns moving like constellations
stitched by ancestral hands.

Two ravens guard the sacred hour—
one in flight, one in witness—
keepers of secrets the forest never speaks aloud.

The lake below becomes a mirror of spirit,
holding stars between ripples of breath,
reflecting not just the sky,
but the memory of all who walked before her.

Her hair flows like night across her shoulders,
woven with the hush of centuries.
She does not reach to claim the moon,
but to remind it she still remembers.

For she is daughter of earth and sky,
taught by rivers how to endure,
taught by fire how to glow,
taught by the moon how to return.

In this moment, time bends quietly around her—
woman, water, wing, and light becoming one.

And the moon does not hang above her.
