As we move into this new year with new hope and optimism, many of you may wonder when my doors will reopen, and we can go back to our regular appointments. I wish I could say that I was ready to rush back to work, but I’m not rushing anywhere at the moment. While I have so far managed to stay safe from COVID-19, it seems I can’t avoid my own clumsiness.

Over the summer, while I was hiking in the woods with my dog, I twisted my knee. My doctor has prescribed a rigorous physical therapy treatment and lots of rest. The recovery has been slow, and the possibility of needing an MRI and more aggressive treatments are a real possibility.

In the meantime, I’ve come up with exciting new ways to stay connected and help you live your best lives by offering online offerings and tea-infused body creams, lotions, and healing bath soaks. Let me know if you would like more information on any of the following items. I'm working on getting my online store up and running, but you can order/signup early by emailing me directly.

Qi Gong:
Starting in a few weeks, I'm offering Qi Gong classes every week on Tuesday afternoons at 4 pm and Saturday mornings at 9 am. Qi Gong is a combination of tai chi like movements and self-massage techniques. I use Qi Gong when I need muscle relief FAST but can't get in for a massage right away and for regular body maintenance to keep my joints supple and my body feeling great - this is perfect for us while we wait for massage offices to reopen. Each session is about 45 minutes long.

Bullet Journaling:
Bullet Journaling is an organization system that is part planner, part to-do list, part journal, and 100% awesome! Through the use of bullet points (hence the name), you can keep track of multiple areas of your life. I've been using the Bullet Journal Method for over 4 years, and it is the best thing I have ever done for myself! It allows me to balance the hecticness of running a business, being a mom, and managing my own personal life. Learning the method can be overwhelming, so I have begun offering workshops to help people get started with their own Bullet Journals. I offer a class in Basic Bullet Journaling for those who know nothing about Bullet Journaling or have tried and failed. All you need is a blank notebook and something to write! My other Bullet Journaling class is all about advanced techniques that can take your journal to the next level - either by efficiency or decorative style (or both).

Bullet Journal Basics Thursday 1/7 @ 2 pm - 4 pm
Bullet Journal Basics Sunday 1/10 @ 3 pm - 5 pm

Advanced Bullet Journaling Thursday 1/21 @ 2 pm - 4 pm
Advanced Bullet Journaling Sunday 1/24 @ 3 pm - 5 pm

Tea-Infused Body Creams & Soaks:
It is no secret that tea is good for us. Over the years, I have been perfecting my own lotion and oil recipes. During lockdown, I began to play around with the idea of infusing my recipes with tea. Tea is a wonderful source of anti-inflammatory properties and hydration, as well as calming and uplifting. I am so pleased to announce that I am now offering these incredible concoctions to you awesome clients! Right now, I only have Earl Grey and Green Tea blends available, but I'll be adding other tea-infusions very soon. And, also coming soon, a super healing, super thick cuticle treatment, as well as hair masks and candles - all infused with the delicious, healing qualities and scents of tea!

Body Cream - Whether your flavor of choice is Earl Grey or Matcha, these richly, indulgent body creams are a lotion and a body butter combined - taking the quick absorption of a lotion but the thickness of a body butter without all the grease. I am constantly on the lookout for a cream that is dense enough to give me maximum hydration without feeling like I fell into an oil bath, so I decided to make my own!

Bath Soak - Baths are just the best. When you need to steep the stress away or soak off body aches, the bath is the most accessible remedy for both. While I was mixing up my tea-infused body creams, it was only natural that my mind would drift to the obvious idea of infusing bath soaks with tea. For anyone that has ever wanted to climb into a steaming cup of tea, this bath soak is for you!

Virtual Intuitive Readings:
Since early times, humans have looked for a deeper understanding of the world. Whether we consult the stars for our daily horoscopes or delve into the hidden meanings found in dreams, we seek out the comfort of clarity in uncertain times. Divination is a way to unlock the hidden wisdom we already possess by offering a space for reflection. I believe that we already have the answers to the questions we seek. I have been reading tarot for over two decades and love the uncanny way the cards provide gentle guidance in my life.

Choose the style of reading you would like, along with a question or general topic. You'll receive pictures of the cards I've pulled along with an explanation and interpretation of their meanings.

One Card Reading - $15
3 Card Reading - $35
Yearly Outlook Reading (10 cards) - $65

I also offer I Ching coin readings for $20, if you're interested in trying that out. ;)

Coming Soon!

Healing Tea Cuticle Balms - Scented and infused with either Green or Earl Grey tea, this cuticle treatment will put an end to dry, cracked fingers and ragged cuticles. As a massage therapist, I can't afford to have rough edges or broken skin, and I'm always on the hunt for a non-greasy, effective cuticle cream.

Tea-Infused Hair Masks - I know I wasn't the only one that played around with making my own hair masks, and as fun as it was to slather my head with bananas and avocados, but they are not very practical nor easy to use on a whim without a run to the produce section and a blender. I've been studying the properties of these wild, organic hair masks, and have come up with a formula that takes the goodness of organic ingredients - without having to dump a smoothie on your head. And best of all, they can sit happily in your bathroom, ready to hydrate your hair whenever!

Tea-Infused Candles - The scent of steeping tea makes me feel so warm and cozy. And I want to put that feeling into candle form, to access it anytime I want. Stay tuned for more updates on my progress!

I hope you all stay safe and warm this winter!

Due to the recent increase in positive COVID-19 cases here in Eau Claire County, and my son's summer programs canceled, I won't be re-opening in July like I had hoped I would.

I'm sure you all miss getting massages and I miss seeing you all in my office but our health and safety mean too much to me to open my doors at this time.

I wish I could give you a definitive re-opening date but at this time I have no idea when that will be. And as I look forward into the fall there is a lot of uncertainty about what school is going to look like for us. Several different scenarios have been proposed and the majority of them involve some degree of homeschooling. As soon as I know what my son's school schedule will be then I will be able to determine my work schedule. I will let you all know what that will be as soon as I know.

In the meantime, I hope you all stay safe and healthy. I can't wait to get back to giving massages and I'll keep you in the loop as I know more.

Thanks for your patience and understanding!

I’ve wanted to try out skateboarding for awhile now but I was worried I would hurt myself too badly to do massage so I stayed away. I’m giving it a try now during “quarantine”. Wish me luck that I don’t actually hurt myself haha.

Have you been checking off anything on your lockdown bucket list?

05/14/2020

My new massage style! Haha, just kidding, I still have to stay home to help my son with his schoolwork until early June.

And in all seriousness, I’m waiting to be sure it’s safe. As you know, massage increases circulation and the release of toxins from your body - many of which come out through your sinuses. Even perfectly healthy clients cough, sneeze, and get a stuffed or runny noise during a session. That is a lot of opportunities to share a highly contagious virus with not only myself but also the next client that enters the room.

Stay safe out there and I’ll let you know more when I know more. Thanks for your understanding and patience.

Our health and safety have been weighing heavily on my mind. I see a lot of clients that travel far and wide, and I have clients that would be considered vulnerable under these new pandemic definitions. I’ve spent the last few nights lying awake worrying if I’ve disinfected my office enough. Have I washed my hands enough? Should I screen clients differently? Am I overreacting, or am I under-reacting?

With schools and many businesses closing, I've considered if I should close my doors as well. My mind keeps turning over the pros and cons, the toll on each of my clients' physical and emotional well-being if I closed, the loss of wages for myself, the risks if I stay open. I've asked myself am I holding the line or just frozen with fear? Can I afford to close my business down for a few weeks? Can I live with the risks if I don’t? I'm going to be honest with you clients, I am scared. I'm scared of the risks of exposure, and I'm scared of the damages a disruption will cause.

So it is with significant consideration that I've come to the conclusion that the risks are far too substantial. I am canceling all massages immediately and will return to work on April 7th. Perhaps it's unnecessary measure, but I can't spend another night worrying over you, Dear Clients, and the people that depend on you. I regret having to disrupt your routine and cancel your appointments, but I would regret it far more if I were to unintentionally pass the virus from one client to the next, or have it passed onto a vulnerable member of the community indirectly through contact with me - despite my hardest efforts to disinfect myself and my room.

And already governors in other states have required the closures of salons, spas, and massage offices alongside bars and restaurants. While Wisconsin has not yet mandated these closures, my own ethics have moved me to this course of action.

Many of you have standing appointments with me, and I apologize for not being able to make them up. We’ll pick back up with our normal schedule when this threat to our safety has ended. In the meantime, I am re-opening my online calendar and extended the booking range to go into May and June. If you have any questions concerning when your next appointment is, please don't hesitate to ask. And if you do not have an upcoming appointment, I would be very happy to book one for you. If you are having difficulty finding an appointment online reach out to me and I will gladly help. You can email me here or call/text at 715-529-3489.

Many of you have reached out to offer to pay ahead or buy gift certificates for friends to support me during this time, and I am moved beyond words by your generosity. I will humbly include the link to my gift certificates as requested, and it is with my great thanks that you are keeping me in your thoughts as I am keeping you in mine.

Please be safe out there, friends. News coverage in other parts of the world and here in our own borders have me very concerned for everyone's safety and it is my opinion that we should take this time of social distancing very seriously.

Thank you for your understanding and consideration for all our safety. I am, again, very sorry to leave you during this time of great stress when I'm sure a massage is needed most, but your safety means too much to me to risk exposure.

Stay Healthy!
