This month we celebrated Foster Care Appreciation Month!

Our foster families play a large role in supporting children in their care and families across the Chippewa Valley. Help us recognize and celebrate Children’s Foster Families, and foster families across Wisconsin, for the rest of the year. Please reach out to our office to learn where we need the most support for children in our communities.

We are humbled to be partners with county agencies, outpatient providers, local school districts, and the biological families of children in our care. We cannot wait to team with you all for the year ahead!

Please join us in congratulating Investigator Chaz Walton, who was recognized today at the Wisconsin Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Conference as the ICAC Investigator of the Year. This prestigious honor is very well deserved! Investigator Walton is incredibly dedicated and thorough as he works his way through these often difficult cases in an effort to protect the victims of these crimes and ensure the people who prey on children are arrested and prosecuted. Thank you for all you do, and congratulations Chaz!

• Did you know between 6,000 and 7,000 children are in foster care in Wisconsin at any given time? More foster parents are needed to provide children of all ages and ability levels with loving, structured homes.

• Treatment Foster Care is needed for many of these children and is designed to meet specialized service needs beyond the scope of general foster care. These children have a variety of needs in the areas of medical and mental health.

• Children’s Wisconsin Treatment Foster Care Program has many advantages, including the intentional matching of children and foster homes. We would love to discuss with you the differences between general foster care and Treatment Foster Care to help you determine if it is the best fit for your family.

 Meet our new Treatment Foster Care Social Worker – Hailey BeBeau! We asked Hailey some questions, and here are her answers.

 Tell us a little about you: I am originally from a very small town in Northern Wisconsin and then went to college at UW-Eau Claire. I have worked in direct service through a local youth development program and in the county setting as a behavioral health case manager so far in my career. I love to read, hike, spend time with my niece and nephew, and listen to live music! I spend much of my time with my yellow lab – Hank – at my side.

 Tell us what excites you about foster care: My work in a variety of settings over the last five years has shown me the need for more safe adults in children’s lives. Being a part of a service that provides consistency and steps towards healing is something I am very grateful to be a part of. I am also excited to support and learn from foster parents in our program!

 Tell us what people considering fostering should know: My role in the Eau Claire office allows me to be a part of every step of your journey – from the day you say you are interested to the day you have your first foster placement. I hope this gives reassurance of support to anyone considering opening their home to a youth in our communities. I would want people to know that connecting with our agency to discuss Treatment Foster Care has no obligation and that I would love to discuss with you whether fostering in this program is right for you and your family!
