How to Eat Healthier at Restaurants: It’s possible! 🍽
If you’re new to low-carb eating, or just want help navigating to healthier choices when dining out, here are some tips!
• Order your salad (with leafy greens and non-starchy vegetables) first! Pass on any carbohydrate-rich “freebies” such as bread or chips.
• A great meal formula to follow generally includes a base protein - such as poultry, fish, or meat (not fried) - with a non-starchy vegetable on the side (ex: zucchini, broccoli, or other dark leafy greens.)
• Add in some healthy fats such as olive oil and vinegar, avocado, or nuts and cheese to top it off!
• Other good choices are to opt for bunless or lettuce-wrapped sandwiches and burgers, and/or choosing for cauliflower rice instead of regular rice. Zucchini noodles are a great replacement for pasta, and keto pizza crust is becoming more widely available!
