Our deepest condolences go out to the families and friends of Wanda Downing.

Wanda Nell Balentine Downing, age 79 of Kuttawa passed away peacefully at her home Sunday, October 26, 2025. Wanda was a devoted member of Hopewell Baptist Church, where she has been attending for over 40 years. She will be fondly remembered for her love of baking pies, tending to her beautiful flower garden and helping Johnie in the corn patches.
Wanda's parents were the late Ralph Balentine and Mary Louise Lovins Balentine. She was preceded in death by two sisters Sue McCoy, Doris
Keel and one grandson Lathan Capps.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years Johnie Downing of Kuttawa; two sons Ralph Downing and wife Melissa of Smyrna, TN; Michael Downing of Kuttawa; grandchildren Brittney Downing and husband Gavin Gusich of Linn Valley, Kansas; Andrea Lady of Sanford, FL; Codie Lady of Princeton, KY; Evan Capps of Clarksville, TN; great grandchildren Noble Oliver of Sanford, FL; Brooklyn Capps of Ft. Knox, KY; one sister Glenda Knight of Murray, Ky and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at Dunn's Funeral Home in Eddyville with Rev. Mike Farmer and Rev. Jeremy Short officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 am til 1:00 pm at Dunn's on Friday before the funeral. Burial will be at Macedonia Cemetery in Kuttawa.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families and friends of J. Belle Riggle.

Iona J. Belle Snyder Riggle, age 93 of Kuttawa, formerly from Between the Rivers, died at 3:17 am, Friday morning, October 17, 2025, in Lewisburg, TN. J Belle, whose exceptional baking skills yielded the most scrumptious coconut cake and whose fondness for two-dollar bills was well-known, will be deeply missed. Her presence illuminated any gathering, and her zest for life, particularly evident at the Friday night street dances, inspired countless people. Her love and legacy will be cherished. She loved to dance, to quilt and was an avid member of Between the River's Inc. along with the Red Hat Society, Woodmen of the World and was bestowed the prestigious title of Kentucky Colonel. J. Belle's parents were the late Henry Leonard Snyder and Cynthia Trimm Snyder. She was preceded in death by her husband, who passed away in 1997, Edward Lee Riggle; three brothers R. Lynn Snyder, Cleaburne Hayes Snyder, Cecil Snyder and two sisters Maude Downing and Arvella Forsythe. Survivors include two daughters: Tammy Wilson and husband Mark of Shelbyville, TN, Linda Burgess and husband Lee of Lewisburg, TN, one grandson Luke Edward Wilson and wife Alexis of Beaufort, SC and two great grandchildren, Kinslee Wilson and Bodie Wilson both of Beaufort, SC and also several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, October 24, 2025 at Dunn's Funeral Home in Eddyville with Rev. Jimmy Jones officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 am til 1:00 pm at Dunn's on Friday before the funeral. Burial will be at Macedonia Cemetery in Kuttawa.

Edward “Buck” Hamby, age 88 of Marion Ky, passed away on Monday, September 1, 2025. Born August 24, 1937, he was the son of the late Roy Etwell Hamby and Grace Perkins Holsapple. Buck was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of Labors Local 1214. He was preceded in death by eight sisters Lois Joiner, Joyce Lockhart, Edna Campbell, Norma McPherson, Helen Stinnett, Dorthy Dycus, Betty Owens, Hazel Donahue-Tubbs; five brothers Bill Hamby, Steve Hamby, Jimmy Hamby, Dennis Hamby, Donnie Brinley; one son Tim Hamby and one daughter Karen Wight. Buck is survived by his wife Judy McDaniel Hamby of Marion, one son Mark Hamby of Eddyville and one brother Tommy & wife Linda Hamby of Princeton. Visitation will be Thursday September 4, 2025 from 11:00 am till 2:00 pm at Dunn's Funeral Home in Eddyville. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm with Rev. Steve Tinsley and Rev. David Brown officiating. The burial will follow in Dycusburg Cemetery.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to our families and friends of Linda Sue Tosh.

Linda Sue Tosh, age 85 of Kuttawa, died last Saturday morning at her home in Kuttawa surrounded by her family. Sue was a Charter Member of the Lake Barkley Homemaker Club, had been a clerk for Kentucky Utilities in Eddyville, a clerk at the Ribbon Outlet at the Mall in Eddyville and other stores as well. Sue was an artist that composed, drew and painted things she found along the shoreline of Lake Barkley. The artistry came from within and manifested itself through her work. She never had a bad word to say about anyone and always kept a positive attitude no matter what was going on. Sue was preceded in death by her husband Joe Tosh in May of 2017 and was buried in Frances Cemetery in Crittenden County, Two brothers W. L. Simpkins and Billy Simpkins, one sister Phyllis Phillips and her parents John Linon and Ruby Fuller Simpkins. Survivors include two sons Kevin Tosh (Bonnie) of Eddyville, Darren Tosh (Jennifer) of Lexington, KY, two grandchildren Tiffany Tosh (Kory) of Westland, MI, Justin Tosh (Ashley) of Corbin, KY, one great grandchild Mason Allen Carter. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday at Dunn's Funeral Home in Eddyville with Rev. Butch Gray officiating and burial will follow in Frances Cemetery in Crittenden County. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am and will continue until time for Sue's funeral. Dunn's Funeral Home in Eddyville is in charge of Sue's arrangements.

Maurine Virginia Shaw Mangum Kidder, age 81 of Shelbyville Ky, passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at her home in Shelbyville. Born May 3, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Paul W. Shaw Sr. and Mary Anna Cross Shaw. She was preceded in death by first husband Marvin Atchison, her second husband William Parker Kidder, and one daughter Lisa Mangum Compton, grandmothers Ruby Cook Croft & Sudie Shaw, grandfathers Leonard Croft and James W. Shaw. She is survived by her brother Paul (Linda) Shaw, Jr., nephews, Paul Born and Paul Shaw IV, granddaughter, Amber Picklesimer, great-grandson, Nathaniel Picklesimer, great-granddaughter, Eliana Picklesimer, son-in-law, Keith Compton, a cousin, Chris Hughes, a host of dear friends and her caregiver and friend, Gayla Hudgens. She loved all her dogs and cats and even fed all the stray cats in the neighborhood. She loved watching the news and sports, especially Louisville Cardinal football, basketball and baseball. In her earlier years she loved to sew needlepoint in her spare time. Visitation will be from 11:00 noon till 12:45 pm Tuesday July 29, 2023 at Dunn's Funeral Home in Eddyville. Family and friends will go in procession to Rolling Hills Cemetery in Eddyville for a graveside service at 1:00 pm Tuesday July 29, 2025 with Rev. Jimmy Jones officiating.

Our condolences go out to the families and friends to Thomas Joyce Sr.

Thomas William Joyce Sr., age 75 of Eddyville Ky, passed away on Thursday, July 10, 2025 at his home in Eddyville. Born February 21, 1950, he was the son of the late Ancil Joyce and Marie Dunn Joyce. He is survived by his wife Joyce Ann Morgan Joyce of Eddyville. one daughter Henrietta Smurawa (Tim) of Eddyville and one son Thomas William Joyce Jr. (Amanda) of Madisonville. The family has chosen to have a memorial service at a later time.
