IN LOVING MEMORY

Danny Odell Walker, age 73, of Kuttawa, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family, love, laughter and music. Danny was a devoted husband, beloved family man, farmer and faithful member of the Calvert City Church of Christ. He passed away leaving a legacy of love, integrity, and service. Danny cherished his wife and family above all else, finding his greatest joy in the time spent with them.

Danny was born April 15, 1952 to Odell Walker and the late Wanda Riley Walker. Danny was happiest when he was on a tractor baling hay and tending to livestock. He had a deep fondness for exploring the backroads, often choosing the scenic route over the fastest one. He was a passionate outdoorsman, Danny relished every opportunity to hunt, traveling to Canada, South Dakota, Nebraska, and Texas to share in the pursuit he loved. His stories, laughter, and deep appreciation for all things family, faith, the farm and the outdoors will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. He was passionate about his volunteer work with the Veterans program of Lyon County and Wounded Warriors. Danny honorably served his community as a Lyon County Magistrate, a role in which he was both respected and trusted for his fairness and integrity.

In addition to his father he is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Becky Cook Walker of Kuttawa; son, Michael Odell (Lindsay) Walker of Cleveland, Ohio; brother, Davy (Ann) Walker of Kuttawa; grandchildren, Andrew Walker, Caden Silverstein and Kendall Silverstein; niece, LeeAnn (Michael) Fraliex of Kuttawa; nephews, Tommy (Megan) Walker of Lone Oak and Todd (Kailey) Walker of Louisville; many additional nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm Thursday, November 20, 2025 at Lakeland Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, November 20, 2025 at Lakeland Funeral Home with Lance Cordle and Jared Green officiating. Burial will follow in Rolling Hills Cemetery.

IN LOVING MEMORY

Donna Holmes, passed away at the age of 80, on November 12, 2025 at her home in Eddyville. She was born in Buffalo, NY, on January 28, 1945.

Donna is survived by her husband of 62 years, Edward Holmes, with whom she built a life filled with joy and devotion. Their daughter, Susan Holmes of Marietta, Georgia, her sister, Barbara Mitchell of Florida, and the numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews shared her life.

Donna was preceded in death by her mother, Lorraine Ann Zimmer Mutter, her father, William Mutter, and son, William Holmes, and daughter Jennifer Bettis.

As a homemaker, Donna took great pride in creating a warm and welcoming space for all who entered her home. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life like fishing, playing cards, cooking, and tending to her garden. Anyone who knew Donna could attest to her green thumb and the beautiful flowers that bloomed under her care. Her kitchen was filled with the aroma of her famous dishes.

Donna was a fan of "Wheel of Fortune," where her keen intellect and sharp wit shone through as she solved puzzles alongside contestants. Her faith played a role in her life; as a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, she lived her beliefs through acts of kindness and compassion.

A loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, whose generous spirit and kindred soul left sweet memories on those fortunate enough to have known her.

IN LOVING MEMORY

Marvalyn Joy Kelly, age 79, of Eddyville, KY, formerly of Florida, passed away November 11, 2025 at Princeton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Marvalyn was born December 14, 1945 to the late Clifford Conrad and Celia Mae Braund Jensen. She loved keeping active and healthy so she rode an impressive five miles a day on her bike and swam laps in the pool everyday. She has moved 19 times in her lifetime and had the process down to a science. Marvalyn took an active role beside her minister husband, Dean. She enjoyed teaching bible studies, singing in the choir and just loving all the people she came into contact with.

She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly (Wade) Robbins of Eddyville; son, Courtland (Trudi) Kelly of Florida; brothers, Clifford (Jessie) Jensen of Florida, Dale (Karen) Jensen of Wisconsin, James (Betty) Jensen of Wisconsin and Lee (Sue) Jensen of Texas; several adored grandchildren; sister-in law, Bonnie (Jim) Arenson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Kelly.

There will be no services held at this time.

IN LOVING MEMORY

John Moore Rowthorn, 98, of Lyon County, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2025 at Livingston Hospital in Salem.

He was born on May 25, 1927 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, to his late parents, Percy George and Anne Main Moore Rowthorn. John served as a Radarman Third Class in the Navy and studied as an electrician, earning skills that would guide his career and life’s work. After his military service, he enjoyed a long and dedicated career as a lineman with U.S. Steel in McDonald, Ohio, before retiring in 1981.

Following retirement, John moved to his lake house on Barkley Lake in Lyon County, Kentucky, where he became a member of St. Matthew by the Lake Lutheran Church in Draffenville. A talented craftsman/handyman, John loved carpentry work, once building a cabin cruiser from a kit and later constructing his own home in Ohio. In his earlier years, he especially enjoyed fishing and camping with his family.

John is survived by his wife of 66 wonderful years, Eileen Margaret Hupp Rowthorn; children, Donna L.(Randolf) Turek of The Villages, Florida, Dale J. Rowthorn of New Harmony, Indiana, Dean J. (Jodie) Rowthorn of Austintown, Ohio and Drew J. Rowthorn of Eddyville, Kentucky; his siblings, Percy Rowthorn of Florida, Annie Shaner of Ohio and Margie Shufflebottom of New York.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Hurdley and brother, Lawrence Rowthorn.

Memorial services will be scheduled at a later date.

IN LOVING MEMORY

Willie "Bill" Butler, age 87 of Eddyville passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at his home.

He was born September 1, 1938 to the late William M. Butler and Laura Louise Shaffer Butler, he was a retired production manager at Jasper American.

Bill’s happiest days were spent at the lake, where he found joy in the simple pleasures of life-casting a line at dawn, teaching his daughters to water ski, and laughing with his grandchildren as they played by the water’s edge.

He will be remembered for his easy smile, generous heart, and the countless memories he created with those he loved most. Bill’s legacy lives on in the laughter shared at the lake and in the love of his family, who will forever cherish the moments they spent together in his favorite place.

Survivors include his adored wife of 68 years, Bonnie Faye Atherton Butler; two daughters, Laurie A. Gibson (Arnold, Jr.) of Henderson, Christal "Chris" B. Cates (Frank) of Eddyville; one sister, Doris Overby of Denver, NC; three grandchildren, Katherine M. Gibson, Heather Bacon and Maci Cates; his pride and joy great grandchildren, Kaedence, Brooks, Jace and Mac.

Visitation for Mr. Butler will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025 from 12:00 PM until 2:00 pm at Lakeland Funeral Home in Eddyville.

A private graveside service will be conducted.

Harry W. Porter, known affectionately to all as Harry, left a lasting legacy of devotion to his family, an admirable career, and contributions to his community. He was born on the 17th of May 1927, in the Bronx and passed away on the 27th of October, 2025 In Princeton, KY at the age of 98 years old.

A dedicated family man, Harry was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, June Claire Enders Porter; parents, Lester Porter and Edna Mae Reeber Porter. He is survived by his loving children, Lesley Lucille Fletcher of Eddyville, KY, and son, Russell Albert Porter of Charleston, RI. Harry was a cherished grandfather to Sabra Benedict, Lacey Porter, Josh Porter, Jordan Rose Burns, and Journey Nevaeh Travers.

Harry’s work during WWII as an engineer who designed destroyers was just the start of an extraordinary life marked by service and curiosity. A veteran of WWII, he continued his military commitment by serving valiantly in the US Navy. His community involvement was significant, with a notable membership in Joppa Lodge, where he was a Mason for 65 years. He also proudly stood as a Shriner affiliated with RIZPAH in Madisonville, KY, alongside his brothers in the York Rite.

Harry and his late wife, June, shared a love for travel, which took them around the world on cruises. Whether it was through the pages of a book or the soil of his well-tended garden, Harry’s pursuit of knowledge never waned - his brilliance echoed in the myriad of trivia he mastered over his lifetime.

Those who knew Harry understood him to be an intelligent soul, capable of profound discussion. He made an indelible imprint on the lives of those around him, carrying the lessons of his richly lived life well into the future. In the history of our family, Harry W. Porter stands tall-an enigma of his era, a guiding star for generations, and above all, a dearly loved man whose memory will be treasured always.

Harry’s life was one of honorable service, unwavering love for his family, and a ceaseless quest for knowledge. He has set forth on his final journey and will be deeply missed by all who had the fortune to cross paths with such an eminent gentleman.
