IN LOVING MEMORY

Joseph Z. “Joe” Martin, age 52, of Fredonia, passed away on Friday, December 26, 2025, at Baptist Health of Paducah. He was born in Marion, Kentucky, on May 22, 1973, to the late Kenneth Martin and Peggy Bland.

Joe began working as a teenager and continued throughout his whole life. He retired from the Department of Corrections in 2018, having held many positions throughout his tenure. He began his career as a correctional officer and advanced through the ranks as a correctional sergeant, lieutenant, internal affairs officer, administrative specialist, and eventually program administrator. After retirement, Joe continued his commitment to work and was employed most recently as a security officer at West Lake Chemical in Calvert City, Kentucky.
Joe’s greatest joy came from spending time with his family. Whenever he was away from work, he devoted his time to his wife and children. His passing leaves a profound sadness in the lives of those who loved him, as they had looked forward to many more years together.

Joe is lovingly remembered by his wife of 27 years, Tina Martin. He is survived by his three children: Benjamin Martin of Johnston, Rhode Island; Oli Martin and Elizabeth Martin, both of Fredonia, Kentucky. In addition, he is survived by his mother, Peggy Bland of Golconda, Illinois, and three brothers: James Martin of Eddyville, Kentucky; Ken Martin and his wife Amanda of Herod, Illinois; and David Martin of Marion, Kentucky.

He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Martin, as well as his nephews, Jacob Martin and Brandon Martin.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm Saturday, January 3, 2026 at Lakeland Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be held at 1:30 pm Saturday, January 3, 2026 at Blue Spring Church Cemetery.

Patricia Anne Purnell-Brown, age 69, of Kuttawa, passed away December 18, 2025 at Tristar Centennial in Nashville.

Patricia Anne Purnell-Brown was born June 26, 1956 to the late James Enoch and Clare Dykstra Purnell. She grew up in Flossmoor, Illinois, and lived a life shaped by curiosity, learning, and travel. Over the years, she made her home in many places, including New York, Texas, Colorado, Kansas, Tennessee, and finally Kuttawa, Kentucky. Patricia earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois at Bloomington and went on to complete her master’s degree in Champaign, Illinois. An Anthropology major with a master’s focus in museums, she also studied in Mexico, reflecting her deep interest in culture and history. In her younger years, Patricia was an avid camper and throughout her life she loved to travel, always eager to explore new places and experiences.

She is survived by her loving husband, William "Bill" Brown of Kuttawa; sister, Debbie (Paul) Gibertini of Illinois; brother, Jeff (Martha) Purnell of Wisconsin; several nieces and nephews.

There will be no public services held at this time.

Patricia Marie Franklin Allensworth Buchner, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother went home to her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, age 84.

Born in Des Moines, Iowa, she lived the majority of her life in California, settling in Eddyville, KY.

She is preceded in death by her son, Paul Tracy Allensworth; her parents, George Earl Franklin and Virginia Darlene Riche; sisters, Bonnie Fowler, Georgeann Bleemers.

She is survived by her husband, Fred Buchner; daughters, Machel Price of Eddyville, KY, Kimberly Procko of Riverside, CA, and Destiny Ibrahim of Jacksonville, NC; son-in-laws, Don Price, Robert Procko, and Dia Ibrahim; siblings, Debbie Dagenette, OK, Sandy Reid, NY, Jim Madison, CO, Barbara Pinion, CA; grandchildren, Daryl Dutcher, TX, Lisa Farias, KY, Lara Farias, CA, Emily Procko, CA; great-grandchildren, Allison Dutcher, TX, Shawn Dutcher, TX, Aaron Dutcher, TX, Zachary Ochoa, TX, Elicia-Marie Ochoa, TX, Landon Procko, CA, Adaleena Ibrahim, NC, Kalise Ibrahim, NC.

IN LOVING MEMORY

Keith Adcock, 69, of Eddyville, Kentucky, passed away on December 3, 2025, at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah. Born on July 27, 1956 in Madisonville, Kentucky, to the late Velma Jean (Stewart) Adcock and John William Adcock. A few years later, the family welcomed his brother and lifelong best friend, John Jr.

Keith started working in the grocery business at just 16 years old in Madisonville where he met his future wife, Teresa Tapp. They married in 1980 and in 1984, they welcomed their daughter, Erica. That same year the family made the move to Eddyville, a place that quickly became home. Three years later, in 1987, their son Chad completed their family.

Keith spent more than three decades serving the Lyon County community as the manager of Sureway, later the Piggly Wiggly, and finally, the Food Giant. Because of his impact at the store and throughout other community organizations, Keith was proudly awarded the title of Citizen of the Year in 2001.

Sports were a huge part of Keith’s life, but nothing meant more to him than watching his kids play and coaching countless others in Lyon County.

In his later years, Keith found his greatest happiness in being “Papaw.” His grandchildren, Ezra and Wilder, were his entire world. From watching Wilder on the baseball field to attending dance recitals with Ezra, he loved every minute he got to spend with them. He also adored his loyal cat, Grey Thomas, who stayed faithfully by his side.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Teresa Tapp Adcock; his daughter, Erica Adcock (Jade Akbari); his son, Chad Adcock (Mary Lynn); his grandchildren, Wilder and Ezra, all of Nashville; his brother, John William Adcock Jr. (Jackie) of Vine Grove, KY; several nieces and nephews.

Keith will be remembered for his loyalty, humor, and the way he loved his family and the Eddyville community with his whole heart.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at Lakeland Funeral Home with Bro. Troy Jent officiating. Burial will follow in Rolling Hills Cemetery in Eddyville.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Lakeland Funeral Home.

IN LOVING MEMORY

Danny Odell Walker, age 73, of Kuttawa, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family, love, laughter and music. Danny was a devoted husband, beloved family man, farmer and faithful member of the Calvert City Church of Christ. He passed away leaving a legacy of love, integrity, and service. Danny cherished his wife and family above all else, finding his greatest joy in the time spent with them.

Danny was born April 15, 1952 to Odell Walker and the late Wanda Riley Walker. Danny was happiest when he was on a tractor baling hay and tending to livestock. He had a deep fondness for exploring the backroads, often choosing the scenic route over the fastest one. He was a passionate outdoorsman, Danny relished every opportunity to hunt, traveling to Canada, South Dakota, Nebraska, and Texas to share in the pursuit he loved. His stories, laughter, and deep appreciation for all things family, faith, the farm and the outdoors will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. He was passionate about his volunteer work with the Veterans program of Lyon County and Wounded Warriors. Danny honorably served his community as a Lyon County Magistrate, a role in which he was both respected and trusted for his fairness and integrity.

In addition to his father he is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Becky Cook Walker of Kuttawa; son, Michael Odell (Lindsay) Walker of Cleveland, Ohio; brother, Davy (Ann) Walker of Kuttawa; grandchildren, Andrew Walker, Caden Silverstein and Kendall Silverstein; niece, LeeAnn (Michael) Fraliex of Kuttawa; nephews, Tommy (Megan) Walker of Lone Oak and Todd (Kailey) Walker of Louisville; many additional nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm Thursday, November 20, 2025 at Lakeland Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, November 20, 2025 at Lakeland Funeral Home with Lance Cordle and Jared Green officiating. Burial will follow in Rolling Hills Cemetery.

Donna Holmes, passed away at the age of 80, on November 12, 2025 at her home in Eddyville. She was born in Buffalo, NY, on January 28, 1945.

Donna is survived by her husband of 62 years, Edward Holmes, with whom she built a life filled with joy and devotion. Their daughter, Susan Holmes of Marietta, Georgia, her sister, Barbara Mitchell of Florida, and the numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews shared her life.

Donna was preceded in death by her mother, Lorraine Ann Zimmer Mutter, her father, William Mutter, and son, William Holmes, and daughter Jennifer Bettis.

As a homemaker, Donna took great pride in creating a warm and welcoming space for all who entered her home. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life like fishing, playing cards, cooking, and tending to her garden. Anyone who knew Donna could attest to her green thumb and the beautiful flowers that bloomed under her care. Her kitchen was filled with the aroma of her famous dishes.

Donna was a fan of "Wheel of Fortune," where her keen intellect and sharp wit shone through as she solved puzzles alongside contestants. Her faith played a role in her life; as a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, she lived her beliefs through acts of kindness and compassion.

A loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, whose generous spirit and kindred soul left sweet memories on those fortunate enough to have known her.

Marvalyn Joy Kelly, age 79, of Eddyville, KY, formerly of Florida, passed away November 11, 2025 at Princeton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Marvalyn was born December 14, 1945 to the late Clifford Conrad and Celia Mae Braund Jensen. She loved keeping active and healthy so she rode an impressive five miles a day on her bike and swam laps in the pool everyday. She has moved 19 times in her lifetime and had the process down to a science. Marvalyn took an active role beside her minister husband, Dean. She enjoyed teaching bible studies, singing in the choir and just loving all the people she came into contact with.

She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly (Wade) Robbins of Eddyville; son, Courtland (Trudi) Kelly of Florida; brothers, Clifford (Jessie) Jensen of Florida, Dale (Karen) Jensen of Wisconsin, James (Betty) Jensen of Wisconsin and Lee (Sue) Jensen of Texas; several adored grandchildren; sister-in law, Bonnie (Jim) Arenson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Kelly.

IN LOVING MEMORY

John Moore Rowthorn, 98, of Lyon County, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2025 at Livingston Hospital in Salem.

He was born on May 25, 1927 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, to his late parents, Percy George and Anne Main Moore Rowthorn. John served as a Radarman Third Class in the Navy and studied as an electrician, earning skills that would guide his career and life’s work. After his military service, he enjoyed a long and dedicated career as a lineman with U.S. Steel in McDonald, Ohio, before retiring in 1981.

Following retirement, John moved to his lake house on Barkley Lake in Lyon County, Kentucky, where he became a member of St. Matthew by the Lake Lutheran Church in Draffenville. A talented craftsman/handyman, John loved carpentry work, once building a cabin cruiser from a kit and later constructing his own home in Ohio. In his earlier years, he especially enjoyed fishing and camping with his family.

John is survived by his wife of 66 wonderful years, Eileen Margaret Hupp Rowthorn; children, Donna L.(Randolf) Turek of The Villages, Florida, Dale J. Rowthorn of New Harmony, Indiana, Dean J. (Jodie) Rowthorn of Austintown, Ohio and Drew J. Rowthorn of Eddyville, Kentucky; his siblings, Percy Rowthorn of Florida, Annie Shaner of Ohio and Margie Shufflebottom of New York.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Hurdley and brother, Lawrence Rowthorn.

Memorial services will be scheduled at a later date.
