🚨 Scam Alert – Please Share 🚨
The Blaine Police Department has been made aware of a new scam after a Blaine resident reported receiving a document claiming they had an outstanding arrest warrant and needed to post a $30,000 bail to resolve it.
The document appeared very convincing and included official-looking elements such as the Minnesota State seal, Anoka County and Sheriff’s Office logos, and the names of real court staff. It has handwritten signatures and a court file number that make it look like an original. It also falsely listed Apple Pay, Walmart Pay, and Zelle as “FDIC-approved” payment methods.
This document is fraudulent and was NOT sent by any government agency.
Government agencies do not collect bail or fines through Apple Pay, Walmart Pay, Zelle, gift cards, or similar payment methods. A legitimate court notice would include a court date and verified contact information for questions.
