rom OralDNA® Labs are fundamental elements of a patient’s wellness plan. OralDNA® currently offers several DNA polymerase chain reaction (PCR) & next-generation sequencing tests:

The Alert 2™ (MyPerioPath® + MyPerioID® IL-6) Identifies one gene marker, IL-6, in combination with the type and concentration of perio-pathogenic bacteria. The MyPerioPath® identifies and measures 11 specific bacteria that are known to significantly contribute to periodontal disease. The MyPerioID® determines whether a patient is susceptible to exaggerated inflammatory responses which may increase the risk and severity of periodontal disease. Celsus One™ evaluates 8 genes associated with increased risk and severity of periodontal disease, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and rheumatoid diseases. The OraRisk HPV (Human papillomavirus) test, detects all HPV type(s) that may be present in the oral cavity. Test report provides information about types that may be associated with an increased risk of oral cancer. OraRisk® HSV assists in accurately identifying oral vesicles, ulcers and other forms of painful oral and throat lesions caused by herpes simplex virus types 1 & 2. OraRisk® Candida identifies all common species of the yeast, Candida; which is known to cause oral thrush in patients with a normal or compromised immune system.

This Week on Trends in Salivary Testing: "Most of My Career, I Measured the Wrong Thing (And How OralDNA Forced Me to Change My Scorecard) - Part One" by Jonathan Evans, RDH

"Treatment stopped being a one-size-fits-all protocol. It became a targeted strategy:
– Which pathogens are we up against?
– How aggressive do we need to be?
– Do we need systemic or local antibiotics?
– How tight should the recall interval truly be?"

April is Oral Cancer Awareness Month!

Did you know that oral HPV infection can increase the risk of oral cancer? Early detection is key in preventing its progression. Oral cancer is often asymptomatic in its early stages, making regular screenings crucial for early detection.

This month, let's highlight the significance of salivary diagnostics in identifying oral HPV and detecting risk for oral cancer at its earliest stages. Saliva testing for HPV can help in early intervention and improved outcomes – all through a 30-second swish and gargle!

Spread the word, schedule your screening, and let's work together to raise awareness and save lives!

March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month

Did you know that your oral health is directly linked to the health of your colon? Studies show that poor oral health is linked to colon cancer.
