The event highlighted the extraordinary work of Elton John and David Furnish in the fight against AIDS and raised money for the Elton John AIDS Foundation Rocket Fund, a transformative campaign accelerating innovative HIV solutions and expanding access to care. Members of Starkey’s Research & Development team were on site at the 53rd Annual Scientific and Technology Conference for the American Auditory Society (AAS) presenting posters and research on Starkey’s latest technologies.

Our researchers are leaders in developing innovative hearing aid technology and are constantly exploring important questions about hearing loss, balance, cognition, and the connections between hearing and socialization. They also work hard to verify and validate every feature, ensure usability, and develop evidence-based audiological practices. In alignment with AAS’s mission, Starkey is proud to be an active part of the scientific community, promoting the translation of scientific discovery to clinical practice in hearing and balance disorders through multi-disciplinary interaction, and contributing to scientific communications for the advancement of research, education and practice.

The is freezin’ for a reason. Some of our employees jumped into a freezing cold lake in support of Special Olympics Minnesota. Team Starkey raised over $23,000 this year. All funds raised help provide year-round training and services to thousands of athletes with intellectual disabilities across the state.

We’re excited to see many of these athletes at the upcoming Special Olympics USA Games, which will be taking place in Minnesota this summer. Our team will be on site with the Healthy Athletes® Healthy Hearing program to ensure all participants have an opportunity to get their hearing checked and get any technology that they may need to help level the playing field.

Our Story

It all began in 1967 when Bill Austin moved his hearing aid services to Minnesota and purchased Starkey Labs from Harold Starkey in 1970. From the very start, Austin had a vision to bring better hearing to the world. He began with a simple premise, “Alone we can’t do much. Together, we can change the world.” At Starkey, it’s that vision that pushes us toward our mission to serve our customers better than anyone else and to keep moving forward by being better today than yesterday, and better tomorrow than today.

Our four corporate values of attitude, commitment, integrity and selflessness fuel our dedication to innovation, philanthropy, craftsmanship and individualized attention that goes into each and every one of our products. We put the patient’s needs at the forefront as we continue to create products that are designed to help hearing aid wearers hear better and live better. And we’re just getting started.
