Lincoln’s law partner once said that “his ambition was a little engine that knew no rest.” His second inaugural address contained words which grace the Lincoln Memorial today --“With malice toward none; with charity for all; with firmness in the right, as God gives us to see the right, let us strive on to finish the work we are in...”
In 56 years Lincoln accomplished much, but who knows what he might have achieved had he finished his work
