I would strongly recommend everyone read this!!!
This is NOT a testimonal….. quite the opposite actually!!! This does not have much to do with chiropractic.
People always want to talk about their success stories…. their wins….. their “homeruns”. Oftentimes, when patients come in and I strart their adjustments…. the smiles are instantaneous as they sigh in relief! They come back in the next day telling me that it’s a miracle and they feel amazing.
Well…. once in a blue moon that doesn’t happen. Let me introduce you to Angela. Anglea’s main complaint was neck pain with tingling/numbness down her arms.
After looking at her x-rays it was obvious what the culprit was. Her cervical curve was gone creating a tremendous pressure on her nerves. Because Angela did not have proper alignment it was creating premature wear and tear of her vertebral discs.
Our main objective was to get the alignment back in her neck to reduce/stop the wear and tear of the discs that was putting pressure on her nerves going down her arms. Special focus was being put on getting the healthy curve back in her neck.
After a few adjustments Angela didn’t see any changes. She talked to me about how she was feeling….. how she felt like she was responding to her adjustments.
BECAUSE Anglea TALKED to me we agreed that a slight modification (although unconventional) might be best suited for Angela’s case based on her feedback.
And guess what…. BAM…. homerun!!!!! Her numbness and tingling instantly improved tremendously!!!! Why????? Because Angela gave me helpful feedback and I listened carefully.
So what’s the point of the post???????
Here is the point….
All of the time I talk to my patients who are seeing other health professionals…. Orthopedic docs, neurologist, massage therapist, physical therapist, nutritionist, psychiatrist, orthodontist, etc. Oftentimes they tell me that they are dissatisfied with their provider. My first question is “have you told them this”….. “have you told them you are having issues”….. “have you asked them to make changes” and what’s incredible is most of my patients that tell me these stories about their other providers tell me “no I haven’t told them” 🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️
Most of the time a provider will go by the typical standard of care for the condition that the patient is presenting with. But EVERYONE is different. The provider doesn’t know what you are experiencing unless you explicitly tell them!!!
If your provider gives you meds that make you feel like you are in the dumps…. don’t assume there’s not another alternative. Talk to them and tell them you don’t like the way it’s making you feel. Don’t assume medication “x” is the only option. Be an ADVOCATE for your own health!!!
Bad thing is some providers DO NOT LISTEN. Find a different provider that will listen!!!!! Most importantly COMMUNICATE with them!!! It’s your health….. your most important assset!!!!!
Due to Angela’s communication I started doing adjustments that were unconventional for her condition, but it worked amazingly!!!!!
The human body is designed to heal!!!! Find a provider that will listen and work with YOUR BODY….. not just a generic guideline!
