Dr. Gottman’s research shows that couples who start arguments gently are more likely to manage conflict effectively, without harming the relationship. One of the hardest things to do in a relationship is to be nice to your partner when you’re upset with them. It’s also one of the most important moments to be kind. Triggers are teachers. When you’re triggered, look at the meaning you’re giving it. It’s subjective.

🧠 💫 Neuroplasticity is the brain's ability to change and adapt both structure and function throughout life based on experiences. The brain is constantly creating and destroying neural pathways, forming the thought and behavior patterns it uses to make decisions and choose actions that we use with others and out in the world. The pathways that are used get stronger; those that are under used grow weak and are eventually replaced.

🤩 What this means is that we can rewire our brains to respond more positively by redirecting thoughts and practicing healthy habits, such as the ones you see on this infographic. When we engage in these practices over time, we have the ability to reshape our brains in positive and empowering ways and enhance our mental health and wellbeing! Wow! Amazing!

👧🏼 👦🏾 🧒🏻 This is critical for kids to learn early on, because the earlier children are when they learn these healthy habits, the more likely they are to incorporate these throughout life.

💡 Neuroplasticity is also related to having a growth mindset, which is having a mindset that you can always learn new things and grow stronger, healthier, and happier. When you have a growth mindset, you believe that your skills, abilities, and outlook can change over time as you expose yourself to new experiences and information and practice new skills.

💪 🧠 Like a muscle, we can grow and strengthen our brains throughout life!

👻 🎃 A fun and festive activity that can be used at home or in class to empower kids to believe in themselves!

Kids can turn this into a self-affirmation activity :

⭐️ Boo - lieve in Myself ⭐️ and use affirmations like: “I am Unique.” “I am Caring.” etc

Or

⭐️ Boo - lieve in Yourself ⭐️ to encourage and affirm others, “You are Kind.” “You are Unique.” etc

Or they can do a mixture - some phrases to encourage themselves and some to encourage others!

When we help kids to think positively about themselves and others, we are empowering the next generation to be happy, healthy, kind, and confident.

And we know that kids learn best when they are having fun and being playful, so encourage kids to learn skills like this during moments of laughter, fun and joy!

Grief is complex. Grief is hard. The stages of grief include Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, and Acceptance. Since grief is not linear, we don’t always go through the stages one right after the other; sometimes we fluctuate back and forth, sometimes we experience only a few of them. Grief looks different for everyone and that’s okay.

Check-in with yourself and discover what you need daily for your self-care. One day it could be a long hot shower the next day it could be scheduling an appointment with your therapist.
