Meet Gertrude Soto, a Certified First Assistant at the DHR Health Women’s Hospital, proudly celebrating 17 years of service!

Gertrude plays an essential role in the operating room, prepping the room and patient for surgery, as well as assisting the surgeon throughout the procedure. Her focus is on ensuring every surgery is safe, smooth, and successful from beginning to end.

She finds fulfillment in knowing her work adds value to someone’s life. Whether it is saving a life or improving its quality, she shows up each day knowing the care she gives truly matters.

Born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley, Gertrude is a proud mother who loves her family deeply. That same love for family extends into her work at DHR Health, where she feels surrounded by a team that supports one another like family. For her, it is more than a job, it is a place where people come together to care for others and make a difference in their community.

Outside of work, Gertrude enjoys spending time with her family and collecting antique and vintage items, always on the lookout for special finds.

Help us welcome the first baby born at the DHR Health Women's Hospital in 2026! Azeneth Murillo at 3:27 a.m., weighing 6 pounds and 5 ounces, measuring 19 ¼ inches. Parents, Evelyn Michelle De Leon and Noel Murillo were thrilled to welcome their baby girl into their loving arms. Proud physician was Dr. Alejandro Tey.

Ana oversees the everyday operations of the office, managing staff, keeping workflows efficient, and making sure patients are satisfied with their experience. She also helps resolve any issues that arise, ensuring both patients and team members are supported and cared for.

What fulfills her most is knowing that her work matters. Whether she is helping a patient with their appointment or supporting an employee with their workload, Ana ends each day with the confidence that she made a positive impact.

DHR Health in Edinburg, Texas was originally opened as an outpatient facility in 1997 by a group of local doctors interested in providing personalized high quality healthcare to its patients. DHR has grown into a 500+ bed general acute care hospital, with a medical staff of over 700 physicians covering 75 specialties.

Our MISSION is to improve the well-being of those we serve with a commitment to excellence: every patient, every encounter, every time.

Serving the lower Rio Grande Valley, DHR Health sees patients from across Hidalgo County, including McAllen, Mission, and Pharr. We offer a wide range of services including emergency, stroke, and heart care.
