Meet Ruel Orcullo, a Registered Nurse at the DHR Health Women’s Hospital, proudly celebrating 18 years of service!

Ruel plays a vital role in helping patients heal and ensuring they receive the best care possible. He also serves as a preceptor, mentoring new nurses and helping them build confidence, clinical skill, and compassion.

What Ruel values most about working at DHR Health is the growth he has experienced over the years. The hands-on experience has strengthened his skills, and he takes great pride in passing that knowledge to the next generation of nurses so patients continue to receive excellent care.

The most fulfilling part of his work is helping patients. Providing reassurance, comfort, and a sense of trust during those moments and seeing patients leave feeling confident in their care, means everything to him.

Originally from the Philippines, Ruel received his nursing education there before continuing his career at DHR Health. He is a devoted husband and father who values time with his family. Outside of work, Ruel enjoys family walks, beach outings, and relaxing at home.

Thank you, Ruel, for 18 years of dedication and mentorship at DHR Health!

Heart failure is often mistaken with sudden heart emergencies, which is why many people don’t notice it until symptoms worsen or complications arise.

Unlike a heart attack or cardiac arrest, heart failure develops over time as the heart becomes strained or damaged and is no longer able to keep up with the body’s needs.

Understanding how it develops helps people recognize that early evaluation and ongoing care can make a meaningful difference.

At the DHR Health Heart Institute, our cardiology team provides advanced care for patients with complex heart failure, serving as a trusted resource for diagnosis, monitoring, and long-term management close to home.

For more information about what support is available, please call (956) 362-8677.

In moments where every second matters, preparation leads every decision and every action.

Our healthcare teams regularly receive hands-on training in simulations that mirror real cardiac emergencies. These drills allow teams to work together under pressure, sharpen critical skills, and respond with confidence in high-stakes situations.

At DHR Health, readiness is part of our daily standard. This ongoing preparation supports patient safety and builds the trust our community relies on during life’s most critical moments.

Meet Leticia Beltran, a Registered Nurse at DHR Health, proudly celebrating 10 years of service!

Leticia cares for patients in critical care situations, making sure they receive the medications they need, remain as comfortable as possible, and are supported through the healing process. She is also an ECMO specialist, helping care for patients on life support during some of their most critical moments.

What she loves most about working at DHR Health is the people. Over the years, her coworkers have become like family, creating a healthy, supportive, and welcoming work environment that she truly values. Some of her most meaningful memories come from the mentorship she has received from experienced nurses and leadership. She is deeply grateful for the guidance, knowledge, and support that have shaped her into the nurse she is today.

Born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley, Leticia received her nursing education at South Texas College and The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. She is a proud spouse and a devoted dog mom, treating her dogs like her own children.

Outside of work, Leticia enjoys spending time with family and friends, shopping, hosting cookouts, and relaxing with the people she loves most.

Thank you, Leticia, for 10 years of compassion, skill, and dedication at DHR Health!

That ringing in your ears isn’t “just annoying,’’ and it’s definitely not something you should ignore.

Persistent ringing (tinnitus) is often a sign of an underlying issue, from hearing damage and inner ear changes to circulation, nerve-related issues, or even infections and blockages.

When tinnitus goes unaddressed, it can affect more than hearing alone. Ongoing ringing is commonly linked to hearing loss, which may worsen over time and is often permanent. Many people also experience increased stress, trouble concentrating, poor sleep, or changes in mood as symptoms continue.

The good news? You don’t have to guess what’s causing it.

At the DHR Health Ear, Nose, and Throat Institute, our specialists look beyond the sound itself to identify contributing factors and guide care that supports long-term hearing, daily function, and quality of life.

If ringing in your ears persists, consider getting it checked. For more information, call (956) 362-8677.
