For the 11th year in a row, JFK EMS has received the highest recognition from the American Heart Association for the prehospital care of ACS, Stroke, and STEMI patients!

We were awarded the 2025 American Heart Association’s Mission Lifeline: EMS Gold Target Heart Attack achievement award.

Mission Lifeline EMS is the American Heart Association's national initiative to advance the system of care for patients with high-risk, time-sensitive disease states, such as severe heart attacks and strokes. The program helps reduce barriers to prompt treatment — from the moment 911 is called, through EMS transport, and continuing through hospital treatment and discharge. Optimal care for heart attack and stroke patients takes seamless coordination between skilled prehospital providers and capable health care systems. The System of Care Target: Heart Attack award highlights the collaboration and contributions of both prehospital and hospital providers.

An award like this —especially one that has been won 11 years in a row— takes a total team effort. From our Communications Team promptly taking the call and providing pre-arrival medical instructions and timely dispatch, to our BLS Team Members recognizing the need for ALS intervention and providing front line care and rapid transport, to our ALS team rapidly diagnosing, pre-notifying, and treating our cardiac patients en route to definitive care, to our Nursing team in medical control providing coordination of STEMI alerts and impactful consultation, and finally to the SCT units standing by for transport to tertiary care facilities when necessary, all are essential to the outstanding care we provide to our patients and our communities.

We would also like to thank our partners in the emergency departments and on the specialty care cardiac teams throughout our HMH network.

Congratulations to our entire team for once again rising to the challenge and achieving this prestigious award. Great work!
