This Black History Month, JRF AmeriCorps was honored to attend the MLK & Black History Month Assembly at North Brunswick Township High School (NBTHS) on February 12, alongside Board of Education members, town council leaders, county representatives, and NAACP partners.

The assembly honored the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., celebrated the diversity of the NBTHS community, and recognized those who fought for human and civil rights. Guests were inspired by powerful remarks from Marvin Dent on resilience and personal growth, and from Mildred Scott — the first female Sheriff of Middlesex County and the first African American Sheriff in New Jersey — who reminded students that they are the next generation of history makers.

From vibrant performances by the Black Cultural Alliance, POWER student groups, and the Music Department, to the shared spirit of reflection and pride, the event strengthened community connections and reaffirmed a collective commitment to service.

Transforming health into happiness, one smile at a time! ✨

On Friday, February 6th, JRF’s Community Health Center proudly hosted Give Kids A Smile Day 2026, bringing joy, care, and brighter smiles to our little ones. Dr. Vega, our incredible Dental Director, delighted everyone dressed as the Tooth Fairy — reminding us that dental visits can be both fun and empowering!
Give Kids A Smile Day provides free dental care to underserved children, ensuring access to essential oral health services. This important initiative helps reduce dental disease in children and establishes a dental home for families who need it most. It also serves as a powerful reminder that good oral hygiene is a shared responsibility — and every child deserves a healthy smile.

At JRF Community Health Center, our commitment to pediatric health goes beyond one day. By participating in Give Kids A Smile Day, we continue working to improve dental health outcomes and reduce oral health disparities in our community.

💙 Together, we are building a stronger, healthier future — one smile at a time.

Community Health Centers are delivering evidence-based heart care at scale, improving outcomes for millions of patients at risk for cardiovascular disease.

📊 In 2024:
✅ 6.17 million Community Health Center patients received care for hypertension
✅ 67% of those patients had their blood pressure under control

Community Health Centers deliver proven preventive and follow-up care for patients at highest risk:
✅ 78% of high-risk patients were prescribed or taking statin therapy
✅ 74% of adult Community Health Center patients with heart disease, a history of heart attack, or prior cardiac procedures were receiving recommended antiplatelet therapy.

These numbers tell a clear story – Community Health Centers don’t just treat heart disease; they help prevent it, manage it, and reduce the risk of future cardiac events.

This , we’re recognizing the vital role Community Health Centers play in protecting heart health nationwide.
