Happy National Volunteer Recognition Day! 💙

Observed annually on April 20, National Volunteer Recognition Day is a time to honor and celebrate the selfless individuals who dedicate their time, skills, and energy to supporting others and strengthening communities—without expecting anything in return.

At JRF, we are incredibly grateful for all of our volunteers who support our mission each and every day, and wanted to share this special thank you post from the JRF and our community partners to our AmeriCorps members for the countless ways you’ve helped us make an impact in our communities. Serving Middlesex County since 2013, AmeriCorps members support community sites through wellness-focused mental health initiatives, self-care events, emotional health workshops, and engaging social programming.

JRF’s Bayside Family Success Center (FSC), in partnership with JRF’s Perth Amboy Alliance for Community (PAAC) program, Perth Amboy Housing Authority, Middlesex College, Gateway, United Way, and Dress for Success, recently hosted a Job Fair Etiquette Workshop to prepare participants for the upcoming Job Fair on April 7th. đŸ’Œâœš

The sessions were a meaningful and positive experience for all involved. Participants were engaged, eager to learn, and left feeling more confident and prepared—exactly the outcome we hoped to achieve. The workshop focused on the importance of self-presentation, professional communication, and dressing for success, equipping attendees with valuable tools to market themselves and make strong first impressions.

TO OUR PARTNERS: Your partnership truly makes a difference in our community. Events like this would not be possible without the collective effort, time, and generosity of everyone involved. We sincerely appreciate your continued commitment to supporting our programs and participants.

We look forward to continuing this important work together and creating even more impactful opportunities in the future. A special thank you to Dress for Success for providing professional attire and helping participants feel confident, prepared, and empowered for the next step in their journey.

April is Oral Cancer Awareness Month 💙 — a critical time to focus on prevention, early detection, and education.

Oral cancer is on the rise, with the American Cancer Society projecting 60,480 new cases and 13,150 deaths in the U.S. in 2026. Because many cases go undetected until later stages, the five-year survival rate remains around 40%. Early detection can truly save lives.

At the JRF Community Health Center, our dental team plays an important role in changing these outcomes through routine screenings and patient education. We’re here to support our community by:
đŸ”č Providing thorough head, neck, and oral cancer screenings
đŸ”č Educating on key risk factors like to***co, alcohol, and HPV-related cancers
đŸ”č Encouraging regular dental visits and awareness of early warning signs

Taking a few moments this month to learn more could make a life-saving difference—for you or someone you love.

If you’re due for a check-up or have concerns, don’t wait. We’re here for you with affordable care for all through our sliding fee scale.

Public health is more than health care-it’s about reaching beyond the exam room to address the non-clinical factors that shape health.

For more than 60 years, Community Health Centers (CHCs) like the JRF Community Health Center have led this work, caring for the whole person through primary care, pharmacy, oral health, behavioral health, and enabling services, while also helping communities navigate issues like safe food and clean water.

This NPHW, we celebrate the heroes, innovators, problem solvers, and troubleshooters who power the CHC movement.

Visit to learn more about CHC’s, and call (732) 482-9600 to schedule an appointment and learn more about the healthcare heroes at the JRF Community Health Center!

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month (CAPA), an annual time to promote community education and public awareness regarding the importance of positive childhood development, child health, parenting, safety, and the prevention of child abuse and neglect. Family Success Centers are on the front lines of this vital work every day. Through programming, support services, and community connections, they play a critical role in strengthening families and creating safe, nurturing environments for children throughout our communities.

Family Success Centers across the state of New Jersey are hosting events throughout the month to engage families, raise awareness, and strengthen our communities. Please scan the QR code to view the CAPA 2026 Calendar. This calendar showcases the incredible work FSC's are doing to engage families, raise awareness, and strengthen communities.

Thank you to Department of Child & Family Services and all FSC's for your continued dedication to supporting and strengthening families in New Jersey.

At our Bayside Family Success Center (FSC), we have a month full of fun and resourceful activities, so be sure to check out our calendar and join us--because every child deserves a safe and loving environment to thrive.

For Medicaid Awareness Month, we are reminded that across the United States, Community Health Centers are the primary delivery system for pediatric care, especially for children with limited access to care. With nearly 10 million children relying on Community Health Centers each year, CHCs represent the most scalable platform in the country for improving early-life health and controlling long-term costs through prevention

New analysis from NACHC’s Dr. John W. Hatch Center for Science shows that 1 in 4 Medicaid-covered and uninsured children rely on Community Health Centers.

As the largest primary care system for low-income children, Community Health Centers play a central role in pediatric care, where policy decisions directly impact access today and shape lifelong health through prevention.

Enrolling children in Medicaid in New Jersey is crucial for providing them with essential healthcare coverage. Outside of the ACA's open enrollment period, special enrollment periods may apply for those who have experienced qualifying life events such as marriage, job loss, birth, or moving.

JRF Honors America’s Physicians Today on National Doctors’ Day

First celebrated in 1933, National Doctors’ Day recognizes physicians with dignity, respect, and gratitude. At the JRF, we’re taking a moment to thank the doctors of the JRF Community Health Center who bring skill, judgment, and steady presence to patient care every day.

The physicians we work with treat illnesses, but they also go a step beyond. They earn trust in hard conversations, guide teams through uncertainty, and stay grounded when the stakes are high. Their work reflects both excellence in medicine and the humanity required to practice it well.

National Doctors’ Day is a chance to say thank you in a way that feels credible and personal!
