Did you know.....
...most disc herniations are ASYMPTOMATIC, meaning they do NOT cause pain. You are not destined for a lifetime of pain and misery just because you have a herniation on MRI. More importantly, it is possible your pain is NOT due to the incidental herniation found on your MRI.

.mcginn and I held our first APP Leaders in Pain meeting last night and it went better than expected! Attendees included 8 APPs covering Neurosurgery, Pain Management and Orthopedic specialties. We had some excellent engagement, discussion and interest throughout the evening.

Topics included:

1) Professional Growth inside and out of the clinic
2) Navigating insurance
3) Creating our network of local APPs
4) Leadership opportunities within industry, state and national organizations.
5) An introduction to the Reactiv8 technology for Multifidus Dysfunction

This is not your father's Pain Management clinic!

The days of just opioid medication and epidural steroid injections are over. Today we offer regenerative medicine, spinal cord stimulation, peripheral nerve stimulation, and spine procedures such as interspinous spacers, sacroiliac joint fusions and minimally invasive lumbar decompression.

Bad news... Effective today telemedicine is no longer covered by Medicare for pain management visits.

Telemedicine services improve access to care due to the convenience, access from home/work, and reduced wait times. Not to mention reduced exposure to infectious agents when sick patients still need care. Telemedicine has been shown to reduce cost, improve outcomes and overall management of chronic care.

This is a major loss for patients and providers alike. Hopefully a new bill reinstates this ever necessary visit type.

NANS 2026 Las Vegas 🤓 What an experience!

Education: Led by the premier APPs in the country, NANS put forth an APP session touching on the most up to date benefits of neuromodulation, AI integration, policy, leadership and much more.

Networking: Building relationships with industry leaders among the spinal cord stimulation, peripheral nerve stimulation, and minimally invasive spine divisions of pain management.

Social: A chance to let your hair down and socialize with colleagues from all over the country living parallel lives.

Have you had an epidural that didn't quite work as well as you would have liked? Ask your doctor if they performed an interlaminar or transforaminal technique as this may be the difference in you having a failed or successful outcome.

Thank you to for organizing another great Expanding APP Education course. We covered HFX neuromodulation, Adaptive AI and The Nevro1 SIJ fusion device. Events like this allow APPs to learn and stay up to date with data driven technology for our patients. It was a great opportunity to connect with APPs from all over the country and grow our network within the pain management community.
