Otsego Academy at Pathfinder Village provides a full college experience.

Welcome to Otsego Academy, Pathfinder Village's post-secondary program, where young adults with intellectual disabilities can embrace a love of learning on their path to independence. We offer creative, individualized options that improve preparation for employment for students with disabilities who have completed their high school education. At the same time, attending the Academy strengthens students' independent living and social thinking skills necessary for life and job success. Research has shown that students with disabilities who participate in post-secondary education are more likely to work in competitive settings, use fewer work-related supports and earn more. At Otsego Academy at Pathfinder Village, our students:

Participate in engaging academic coursework
Enjoy community life in a beautiful village setting
Explore career paths
Find full-time employment
And realize independence! We offer an intensive, two-year post-secondary program focused on pre-requisites for successful, community-based employment. Students will build skills for employment based upon vocational assessments, classroom instruction, job exploration, internships and apprenticeships within Pathfinder Village as well as with select community business partners.

Last week, Otsego Academy students returned to a familiar favorite, the Gatehouse in Morris, where they proudly shared the poems they have been working on over the past few months. Friends from Pathfinder also came out to support them and listen to their poems, which made the experience even more special. The students were also invited to read their pieces at Hartwick College, presenting their poetry in front of the college students there. It was an amazing opportunity and a big confidence boost for our young writers.

This past weekend, Otsego Academy students had a fun-filled and adventurous time with their friends from Butler! They kicked things off with going to The Art of the Brick Museum, where they were amazed by stunning works of art — all made entirely out of LEGO® bricks! The adventure continued with a tour of Howe Caverns, where they explored the incredible underground caves and learned about the natural wonders hidden below the surface. It was an exciting weekend full of exploration, creativity, and unforgettable experiences.

Last week, Otsego Academy students had an awesome time at Colgate University, where they joined the Colgate Student Athletes for a fun and energetic photo shoot! Everyone was all smiles, striking poses, laughing, and enjoying the experience together!

The Otsego Academy crew had the best time tonight at the Halloween dance! 🕺💃 Lots of laughs, great music, and even better friends. What a fun night! 👻🧡

Otsego Academy has been super busy this past month! Tonight, they put their fitness skills to the test with Zumba, treadmill workouts, and the elliptical. 💪🏼

They wrapped up the evening by working together to create a beautiful charcuterie board — a true team masterpiece!

We love partnering with National Down Syndrome Society on programs and initiatives that can lead to healthy benefits.

This , we're highlighting a group of 6 women with Down syndrome that graduated from Otsego Academy and completed the NDSS 321𝘨𝘰!® program. 👏

Otsego Academy is a two-year post-secondary program for young adults with Down syndrome and other developmental disabilities. Students work on building independent living, employment, and self-advocacy skills. 321𝘨𝘰! helped take their Health & Wellness curriculum to the next level. 🥕 Graduates loved the emphasis on independent choice-making with the easy-to-use tracking chart, the inclusion of healthy recipes and educational materials, and the easy to follow workout routines. 💪
