A proud NWOSU Nursing Class of 2011 graduate, McKayla has built Magnolia Medical Spa on a foundation of safety, integrity, and exceptional patient outcomes. As both a business owner and hands-on clinical leader, she oversees operations, sets high standards of care, mentors her team, and personally delivers advanced aesthetic nursing services to our patients every day.

McKayla Girton, NWOSU Nursing Class of 2011 (BSN), is the owner and nurse injector at Magnolia Medical Spa in Edmond, Oklahoma. As a business owner and clinical leader, she oversees operations, guides patient care standards, and personally provides advanced aesthetic nursing services. McKayla shares, "I am passionate about building a practice that prioritizes safety, integrity, and exceptional patient outcomes."
❓ What do you love most about your job as a nurse?
"What I love most about my role is the opportunity to lead while still providing hands-on patient care. I find fulfillment in mentoring others, setting high clinical standards, and empowering patients through education and individualized treatment. Nursing allows me to make a meaningful impact—not only on patients, but also within my team and community."
❓ How did your time at NWOSU Nursing prepare you for your nursing career?
"NWOSU equipped me with a strong clinical foundation, critical-thinking skills, and the confidence to lead. The program emphasized accountability, professionalism, and patient-centered care, which have been essential as I transitioned from bedside nursing into entrepreneurship and practice ownership."
❓ Was there a faculty member or experience that left a lasting impact?
"The faculty at NWOSU made a lasting impact through their dedication and high expectations. They challenged us to think independently, take ownership of our work, and lead with integrity. Those lessons continue to guide how I practice nursing and lead my business today."
❓ What advice would you give to current nursing students?
"Be confident in your abilities and don’t limit your vision of what nursing can be. Develop strong clinical skills, but also learn to advocate for yourself, lead when opportunities arise, and remain adaptable. Nursing offers endless paths—embrace growth and don’t be afraid to pursue leadership roles."
❓ How do you stay active in the nursing profession and continue learning?
“I remain actively engaged through continued education, advanced certifications, and leadership development within aesthetic nursing. As a practice owner, I prioritize staying current with evidence-based care, regulatory standards, and innovations in the field to ensure my patients and team receive the highest level of care.”
