A very helpful Tool for your Research Tool Box!

I’m going to teach you how to read between the lines in death certificates, how to find family history clues within them and items of interest to genealogists. https://youtu.be/bie5KfrjtHM

Death certificates are often the first record a family historian finds when researching a new ancestor. I’ll also show you some tips for a research plan created from the information found in a death certificate.

This video will show you how to read them to get the most out of them and what to look for to avoid mistakes in your family tree.

The handout for this episode has information about where to find death certificates and more about the details to look for and how accurate the information is within a death certificate.

The 1940 census was taken in April 1940 (official date was April 1, though entries were recorded throughout early April). The Federal government requires a census to be taken once every ten years for the apportionment of members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The first census was taken in 1790.
