Today is International Mind-Body Wellness Day...
what's that???
Today's focus encourages us to consider the mind-body connection...that our minds and our bodies are interconnected in health...
Focusing on the "body" half of this duo...what we eat impacts how we feel...in more than the "I ate spicey food late, had heartburn all night and am now exhausted" sort of way. Research clearly demonstrates mindful eating (see how I did that) improves depression, anxiety, sleep, and general outlook. It's pretty goofy to put premium gasoline in your car, and then feed yourself garbage.
Likewise, the "mind" aspect affects physical health. Close your eyes, and think angry thoughts...feel your blood pressure and pulse going up? Alternatively, think of one of your happiest memories...feel peace washing over you mind AND your body relaxing?
These systems are intertwined, not separate....we must take care of them both!
