How my passion started!
My LOVE for Chiropractic began when I was a 4th year Microbiology/Pre-Med student at the University of Oklahoma and, of course, involved a girl. My girlfriend was a chiropractic patient when we met. Every three to four weeks, she would start to have back pain and headaches, would go to her chiropractor, and would be good for another month. I, knowing nothing about chiropractic, suggested she should go to a REAL DOCTOR (my exact words) and let them fix her back. She exploded and proceeded to educate me.
This was HER story.
When she was 13, she was thrown off a horse and injured her back. The “real” doctors told her she would NEVER run again, and might never walk again!! She spent a year in a wheelchair. She was given powerful drugs for pain. (Sound familiar?) And when that didn’t work...... they increased her dose!! She was hallucinating..... She was suicidal!! Finally, as a last resort, and against medical advice, her mom took her to a chiropractor!!
One month later she was 100% BETTER!! She got rid of the wheelchair!!! She went back to playing softball!!! She went back to being a normal teenager!!! The MIRACLE that is chiropractic, had restored her life!
The following day, I went with her to meet her chiropractor, did a little research on my own, and CHANGED THE DIRECTION OF MY ENTIRE LIFE!! Even though life would ultimately take her and I in separate directions, I think of her and her success, knowing that she not only was amazingly changed after this life-changing adjustment, but she in turn taught me the healing potential of the human frame.
Results demand skill and the beginning of all skills require dedicated and experienced teachers. Upon completion of my undergraduate studies, I listened to the advice of practicing chiropractors and completed four years of chiropractic training at the “Fountainhead” of chiropractic, Palmer College in Davenport, Iowa. At Palmer, I was guided in my development by professors and teachers who had studied at the feet of B.J. Palmer, the developer of chiropractic. And while all of the chiropractic colleges are great and train awesome doctors, I found it extremely humbling to receive my doctorate degree from the worlds first chiropractic school. The Birthplace of Chiropractic!!
And now, after 38 years of practice and having performed well over one million spinal adjustments, I continue to be amazed by the healing power of the human body, the miracle that is chiropractic, and the special process that I get to play a very small part in. I can truly say I learn something from every patient and I am determined to make each adjustment the best one I have ever given. It is indeed MY honor to help you!
