This is Dobbie, a 12 year old Boston Terrier. Dobbie came in to see Dr. Streeter on June 21st completely paralyzed. Dr. Streeter performed a surgical procedure called a Ventral Slot. What is that you ask? A ventral slot is a surgical procedure for disc herniation in the cervical spine. The approach is from the underside (ventral) of the neck, where intervertebral discs are located. A small hole (slot) is drilled through the center of the desk and a small portion of the adjacent vertebrae. This allows access to the spinal canal at the location of the herniated disc. Small instruments are then used to remove any free fragments of the disc material that have herniated or ruptured into the spinal canal. Two weeks later look how GREAT Dobbie is doing! Her owner is over the moon with the outcome of Dobbie’s surgery. ♥️

Here at Central Oklahoma Veterinary Specialists we offer CT imaging!
What does that mean for our patients? It means that we are able to give our veterinarians more accurate information to diagnose certain disorders. CT technology helps not only in deciding if surgery will be beneficial, but it also helps with surgical planning.

Good candidates for CT imaging include patients with nervous system disorders, such as seizures, neurologic disorders, or tumors. CT imaging is also valuable for imaging the brain.
