A not-for-profit long-term care, skilled nursing and rehab facility. We employee approximately 100 persons who provide the best care possible to our residents.

Metcalfe Health Care Center, a not-for-profit provider of long-term care services in south central Kentucky, is a county owned facility that has been providing exceptional care since 1977. We have 71 beds that are dually certified by Medicare and Medicaid and also provide Personal Care services to 13 beds. In addition to skilled nursing care, we also provide short term rehab as well as outpatient rehabilitation services. We also have full-time in-house therapy staff to provide all your physical, occupational, and speech therapy needs. Our facility is a proud past recipient of the AHCA Bronze Quality Award. It is our mission to provide the highest quality care possible to those you love the most.

🐦✨ A Little Joy with Feathers ✨🐦

Sometimes the smallest moments bring the biggest smiles. These sweet little birds have been such a joy for our residents and visitors, sparking conversation, laughter, and quiet moments of peace. Birds have been present at present at our center for years.

Watching them hop, chirp, and interact reminds us that joy does not have to be complicated. For many of our residents, these birds offer comfort, help reduce stress, and create meaningful daily moments to look forward to. For new visitors, they are often an unexpected delight that instantly brightens the room.

One resident used to watch them and tell stories about how she raised birds. She’d call her family and tell them to go buy more birds for the nursing home. With her health not where it used to be, the birds connected her to a place in her mind she hadn’t been able to go for a long time.

At our center, we believe a warm environment is about more than care. It is about connection, beauty, and moments that lift the spirit. 💛

🧡 Grateful for Our Thanksgiving Heroes 🧡

While many gather around the table this Thanksgiving, some of the most dedicated hearts among us are right here, caring for our residents with compassion and professionalism.

To our nurses, CNAs, dietary staff, housekeeping, maintenance, therapy, and every team member who works on Thanksgiving year after year: thank you. Your willingness to show up, even when it means missing time with your own families, does not go unnoticed.

Because of you, our residents are safe, comfortable, and surrounded by care on a day that can be especially meaningful. You are more than employees you are caregivers, servants, and the heart of our facility.

From all of us, and from the residents who rely on you every single day, we are truly thankful for you. 🦃❤️

We had a spooktacular time celebrating with our residents and staff. There was candy, laughter, and plenty of smiles all around. From witches and superheroes to pumpkins and pirates, everyone brought their Halloween spirit.
