Before we went on spring break, we celebrated the end of Black History Month here in the clinic! We invited clinicians and clients to wear Black History Month attire and colors in order to celebrate and honor the Black excellence that we are surrounded by in the clinic and in our program. 130 buttons were created for distribution with various phrases celebrating Black History Month that our clinicians proudly wore and that our clients excitedly took home. A Black History bulletin board was put up in our clinic hallway to highlight Black excellence and outstanding allyship in our program, as this is worth celebrating! Thank you to all of the Black clinicians, clients, client families, and students that make our clinic as well as our program amazing. We gladly celebrated you in February and continue to do so every day! ❤️💛💚

Here at the SIUE SLHC we proudly celebrate Black History Month! This week in particular, we are honoring the Black students, clinicians, professionals, clients and families that make our field and our clinic so amazing! We recently had our last clinic meeting of the semester with our first year graduate students. Everybody contributed to provide a great breakfast spread to kick off the meeting. While everyone was enjoying their breakfast, our clinic coordinator, Mrs. Henderson, surprised all of the students by reading off compliments and praise submitted by their supervisors. How sweet! The perfect cherry on top to a wonderful morning was our visit from Got Your Six Therapy Dogs to enjoy some professional puppy love … and of course engage in interprofessional education 😉. A special thank you to Got Your Six Therapy Dogs for making our last clinic meeting end on a perfect note, you’ve become our new favorite tradition over the years! What a perfect end to a successful semester, we’re so proud of all of our first year graduate students!
