Fighting childhood hunger by preparing and distributing healthy meals to local children. Founded by David Tevet, Owner, Ollies Restaurant.

More then 1 in 4 children in the United States do not receive nutritious food on a consistent basis. In Luzerne County, more then 10,500 children are food insecure. Children who lack a nutritionally balanced diet are more likely to exhibit behavior problems, poor school performance, and impaired cognitive development.

Both are shining examples of generosity, service, and dedication to Dinners For Kids and our mission to end childhood hunger. We’re honored to announce Sandy Insalaco, Sr. as the recipient of our Distinguished Advocate for Childhood Nutrition Award at this year’s Thanks for Giving! Fall Gathering. 💛

A lifelong Wyoming Valley resident, Sandy has spent more than eight decades leading with purpose. From building Insalaco Markets into one of NEPA’s most successful supermarket chains to shaping community growth through Insalaco Development Group and U.S. Hydrations.

His entrepreneurial vision has not only created jobs and opportunities across the region but also helped transform the local business landscape. Sandy’s leadership extends far beyond his companies, he’s served on numerous boards, including Misericordia University, where his guidance helped advance major capital campaigns and educational initiatives.

Beyond his many business achievements, Sandy’s legacy is rooted in service. His leadership and generosity have strengthened countless community organizations, including Dinners For Kids, where his support has helped ensure that children across our region have access to nutritious meals.
