Fighting childhood hunger by preparing and distributing healthy meals to local children. Founded by David Tevet, Owner, Ollies Restaurant.

More then 1 in 4 children in the United States do not receive nutritious food on a consistent basis. In Luzerne County, more then 10,500 children are food insecure. Children who lack a nutritionally balanced diet are more likely to exhibit behavior problems, poor school performance, and impaired cognitive development.

This National Volunteer Week, we simply want to say thank you. 💚

Week after week, our volunteers show up, packing and delivering meals three times a week to ensure hundreds of children in our community are fed. With over 90 hours of volunteer time given each week, this mission continues because of your dedication.

You deserve far more than just one week of recognition. We are endlessly grateful, deeply appreciative, and truly in awe of the compassion and commitment you bring to Dinners for Kids. Thank you for choosing to give your time and your heart to the children of NEPA. 🥳

This National Volunteer Week, we’re celebrating the people who keep this mission moving! 🚗

As a 100% volunteer-run organization with no paid staff, everything we do is made possible by individuals who give their time to ensure hundreds of meals reach children in need across NEPA. We truly could not do this without you, and we are endlessly grateful for your time and commitment. 💚

We’re kicking off National Volunteer Week by celebrating the people who make it all possible! 💛

This week, we're recognizing the individuals who give their time and energy to strengthen our community. At Dinners for Kids, our volunteers are the heart of everything we do, dedicating nearly 90 hours each week to packing and delivering meals to children who rely on us. Their commitment keeps this mission moving forward, and we truly could not do it without them!

Every dollar goes further than you think! Through the Rounding Up Initiative with Dinners for Kids in partnership with Weis Markets, small amounts at checkout become meaningful support for local children in our community.

Throughout April, every time you round up at the register, you’re helping provide meals for kids right here at home. Six participating Weis Markets locations are making it easy to give back: Dallas, Nanticoke, Tunkhannock, Plains, Duryea, and Mountain Top. Next time you're shopping at Weis, remember to round up for kids!

What a special evening celebrating the people who make this mission possible! 🍽

Our Volunteer Appreciation Dinner is a small way to say thank you to the incredible individuals who give their time, energy, and heart to Dinners for Kids. As a 100% volunteer-run organization, everything we do is powered by people who choose to show up, week after week, for the children we serve.

The room was filled with warmth and genuine connection. Volunteers shared stories, laughed together, and spent time with others who understand the heart behind this work. It was a reminder that this mission is not just about meals, but about the people who make it happen.

We were also honored to recognize the late Howard J. Grossman, with the Legacy of Community Impact Award. Rabi Kaplan delivered a beautiful tribute. Howard's generosity and dedication to this community, the nonprofits in it, and especially to DFK, left a lasting mark that continues to inspire us. We will miss Howard and his kind heart.

The evening was made even more meaningful by a surprise generous donation from Carol and her youth groups, Our Lady of Victory and Gate of Heaven Church. Their thoughtfulness and effort truly meant so much! Thank you for choosing to support DFK's mission.

An evening like this reminds us that when people come together with purpose, something truly special happens. 💚

Congratulations to Shawna Williams, Dinners for Kids Board Member, on being recognized at Gather Community Space’s Women’s History Month Celebration and Awards! 🏆

With more than 15 years of experience as a dedicated social worker, Shawna has committed her career to supporting children, families, and vulnerable populations across our community. Her work spans mental health, housing, education, and advocacy, and her impact continues through her leadership and volunteer service with Dinners for Kids and beyond.

We are so proud to have Shawna as part of our organization. Her compassion, expertise, and commitment to others truly embody the spirit of this recognition.
