I have practiced yoga in some form or another for almost 20 years. I started like everybody else, watching fitness DVD's, and then trying to find teachers and studios that taught in ways that made sense to me. I finally got to attend a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training with Barefoot Freedom Yoga in 2019, and I'm now confident and passionate about teaching private, group, and studio classes. Yoga, to me, is not about the cute clothes, or doing a pose that will impress everybody. To me, practicing yoga is a tool to help accept and care for our bodies, to clear the mind and build focus, and to help manage emotions and anxiety. I've experienced firsthand the power of mindful deep breathing, and the focused state that is achieved when breath and movement are tied together for a yoga practice. You can make the minutes fly by, and enjoy exploring your body's capabilities. For those just starting out with yoga who find it difficult to get up and down off the floor, I like offering Chair-based classes. it's an easily accessible form of yoga that still gives plenty of benefits, building flexibility, strength, and mindful breathing practice. I like working with athletes and yogis of all levels, from fitness newbies to High School sports teams, from "never-tried-a-class" to dedicated yogis. I can't promise I'll know the Sanskrit term for every posture, but I'll do my best to help you build a foundation of strength and flexibility and poise through traditional flows and asanas.
