To our valued clients at Ocean Heights Animal Hospital,
We will continue to remain open during the outbreak of COVID-19, but we are implementing some policies to keep both you and our staff safe.
We are asking sick clients (those with respiratory disease, flu, or cold-like symptoms), those who have been potentially exposed to, or those who have been tested positive for COVID-19, to not bring their pet to the hospital. Please arrange with a friend or family member to bring your pet. Additionally, please consider rescheduling wellness exams and elective surgeries during this time.
Per the AVMA: “ Infectious disease experts and multiple international and domestic human and animal health organizations agree there is no evidence at this point to indicate that pets become ill with COVID-19 or that they spread it to other animals, including people. Out of an abundance of caution, it is recommended that those ill with COVID-19 limit contact with animals until more information is known about the virus. Have another member of your household take care of walking, feeding, and playing with your pet. If you have a service animal or you must care for your pet, then wear a facemask; don’t share food, kiss, or hug them; and wash your hands before and after any contact with them. As always, careful hand washing and other infection control practices can greatly reduce the chance of spreading any disease. The national Association of State Public Health Veterinarians’ (NASPHV) compendium of standard precautions is a good reference for appropriate infection control in veterinary practices.”
We are doing our best to stay abreast of current developments. We understand there is a lot of information (and misinformation) floating around. Updates can be found at:
American Veterinary Medical Association: Avma.org/Coronavirus
CDC: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html
We will update our policies as needed during this time.
Thank you for your understanding.
Sincerely,
The doctors and staff of Ocean Heights Animal Hospital
