We are deeply saddened to share the passing of our dear friend and long time supporter, Randy Jones.
Randy will forever be known as a San Diego Padres legend and Cy Young Award winner, but to us at Home of Guiding Hands, he was something even more meaningful. He was a dedicated advocate, a generous community partner, and a true champion for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
His relationship with HGH spanned decades. From our early days as a campus to the wide-reaching services we offer today, Randy was always there. He helped raise vital funds through our annual Randy Jones Run Walk event, which proudly bears his name. More than that, he consistently used his voice, his time, and his influence to uplift our mission and support our clients and their families.
Randy’s kindness was constant. Whether he was supporting an event or just spending time with our staff and clients, he made people feel seen, heard, and valued. He was a friend to many and an advocate for all.
Our thoughts are with his wife, Marie, and the entire Jones family during this time. We are so grateful for the love Randy gave to our community, and we will carry his legacy forward with the same compassion and dedication he showed us.
Thank you, Randy. You’ll always be a part of the Home of Guiding Hands family.

🌟 Celebrating Sara Burnett, a true difference-maker and East County Chamber Women in Leadership nominee! 🌟
Sara leads our Early Start programs at Home of Guiding Hands, supporting over 3,000 infants and toddlers each year with developmental delays and disabilities. From therapeutic services to parent education and outreach, Sara is at the heart of helping families thrive during the most critical years of development.
In addition to her leadership, Sara hosts monthly Parent Play Groups, a warm, welcoming space where families with children can connect, share experiences, and build lasting community. These gatherings, filled with crafts, songs, and smiles, are often the first place families feel seen, supported, and not alone in their journey.
She also serves on the President's Cabinet, trains professionals through SDSU’s Bridge Collaborative, helped launch services in Imperial County, and still finds time to volunteer with Meals on Wheels and participate in weekend community events.
Sara’s work is more than a job, it’s a lifeline of support, education, and hope for thousands of families. We are so proud to stand beside her as she receives this well-deserved recognition. 💙
