From 70 Years of Smoking to a New Lease on Life 🫁

In honor of Pulmonary Rehab Week, we're sharing the story about how one resident with lung disease was able to gain quality of life through our pulmonary rehab program. As a young child, Roy Meyers was encouraged to smoke to***co with his father—a habit that would span seven decades and nearly cost him his life.

Diagnosed with COPD five years ago, Roy was hospitalized with pneumonia in the summer of 2025. That's when everything changed and he quit smoking for good.

"When I started pulmonary rehab, I couldn't walk down the driveway to the mailbox without running out of air," Roy shared. "Now I spend 30 minutes on each of the three exercise machines, and I enjoy going to get the mail with my little doggie."

Today, Roy comes back twice a week for exercise and maintenance therapies—including playing the harmonica to strengthen his lungs and breathing ability.

It's never too late to make a change. 💙

We are celebrating National Cardiac Rehabilitation Week and the life-saving impact of cardiac rehab! Every year, over one million Americans have a coronary event or undergo a cardiac-related procedure. Cardiac rehab can not only help a person recover from a heart issue, it also prevents future complications. Many of our graduates have continued with a maintenance program to keep enjoying the benefits of a stronger heart and to live a longer, healthier life.

Today during National Phlebotomists Recognition Week, we want to take this opportunity to thank the phlebotomists that we work with daily and recognize the vital role they play in maintaining patient health and promoting lab efficiency and effectiveness. Pictured left to right are phlebotomists, Tammy Mann and Carmen Shiver.

A phlebotomist is a multi-skilled professional who combines clinical and administrative responsibilities to draw blood from a patient for clinical or medical testing, transfusions, donations, or research. Phlebotomists collect blood primarily by performing venipunctures or, for collection of minute quantities of blood, finger sticks. Administrative duties include accurately preparing, coding, and organizing blood samples for analysis.
