PGY1 is based in Little Rock, Arkansas. Most rotations take place at UAMS Medical Center, with additional training at Arkansas Children’s Hospital and continuity clinic at the UAMS Family Medical Center. Residents go through specialty rotations, bringing knowledge and connections with them to El Dorado.

Adventure In Medicine provided training to over twenty local undergraduate students from Southern Arkansas University and Texas A&M Texarkana followed by mock scenario applications on the grounds of Logoly State Park. Logoly State Park has been generous to allow us to hold our event in their visitor center. Columbia County Ambulance Services provides the training which was outstanding. Students leave with new knowledge and motivation to continue to pursue health careers.

Our UAMS Surgical Obstetrics Fellowship is the first of its kind in South Arkansas, offering advanced training in the comprehensive care of women with a focus on maternity care and reproductive health. Fellows, who are board-certified Family Medicine physicians, gain extensive experience managing both low- and high-risk pregnancies, along with hands-on surgical obstetrics training that prepares them to lead in rural settings. We’re proud to invest in the next generation of maternal health leaders.

During PGY3, our residents gain focused experience in wound care management. This rotation sharpens their skills in assessment, debridement, dressing selection, and interdisciplinary coordination, preparing them to manage complex wounds confidently in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
