January is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month, a time to share life-saving information 🎗️

Did you know that cervical cancer is the fourth most common type of cancer for women worldwide? While it occurs most often in women over age 30, it is also one of the most preventable types of cancer because it develops over time.

Fast Facts to Share:

What it is: Cancer that starts in the cervix, the narrow opening into the uterus from the va**na.

The Cause: Long-lasting infection with certain types of human papillomavirus (HPV) is the main cause.

Prevention: Regular screenings can find changes before they become cancer.

To Make A Community Whole

Project Vida begins with the understanding that communities, like people, are living organisms. Children and adults, businesses and schools, churches and public systems interact to form an identity and a lifestyle. Project Vida takes seriously the life of the community and the individual as a whole.

Project Vida is located in the center of El Paso, three blocks north of the Rio Grande border with México. The neighborhood is one of the most impoverished in the USA. Project Vida programs emerge from an ongoing community dialogue; those programs have spread to other areas of El Paso County and the adjoining Hudspeth County.
