Thinking about exploring the outdoors this spring? 🥾🌅

Before you head out on your next hike, keep these important tips in mind to stay safe and prepared!

Always hike with a buddy, bring plenty of water, and wear sunscreen and a hat to protect yourself from the sun. Make sure to wear proper hiking shoes with good traction, and plan ahead by starting early and allowing enough time to complete your hike safely.

As temperatures rise, wildlife becomes more active, especially snakes. Stay alert, stay on the trail, and always be aware of your surroundings.

The 2026 Hike-A-Thon challenge continues with the third hike of the series this Saturday, April 4 at the Lazy Cow Trailhead, at the end of Officer Andrew Barcena Dr., starting at 7:30 a.m. This trailhead offers a moderate route. We'll see you there!

This Saturday, join us to celebrate Community & Labor Heritage Day, as we honor the people, cultures, and contributions that shape our Borderland community with a one mile walk, wellness booths and tree planting!

First 40 attendees that volunteer for the tree planting will receive a FREE LAEP Cap!
