✨Our dreams are growing…

And so is my belly! 🥰

We are delighted to announce that we are expecting our first baby!🫶

As a midwife, I have been humbled by pregnancy and birth time and time again.
But now, pregnant myself, I am even more humbled.

The biggest things pregnancy has taught me so far:
1. It’s so much harder than it appears
2. I have far less control over anything in this life than I thought I did
3. Your whole life can change in an instant

We are excited, nervous, hopeful, grateful, terrified, and overjoyed for this next season.

And the joke is on me for constantly saying I didn’t want a birth in the summer 😋 God has blessed us more than we deserve and I am grateful for His timing.

6 years Later ✨
You are even dreamier today than the day I married you.

It’s hard to imagine that it’s been 6 years of marriage already, but the photos are a good reminder. We both have changed so much- Im so glad we have changed together. And im so glad we get to do life together.

6 years down. Forever to go.
Onto the next best chapter of our lives. 🥂
Love you mucho J.

Goodbye summer 2023!
After many births and many projects, it was a great “stay-at-home” (aka no school) & recover season for us.

J & I had lunch today while we reflected on all that we did this summer including:
✔️planting/caring for a garden
✔️new chicken coop + chickens
✔️new hardwood floors
✔️new air conditioning
✔️deep cleaning our study

J did the majority of this (did I mention that he is amazing?) while I worked 60 hour + weeks, started attending homebirths again (with the most amazing team) and hit a personal record for the number of births in one month (16!!)

Hopeful, grateful, nervous, and also excited for fall 2023. It will be semester #4 at UTEP 😮‍💨 about 3 semesters more to go until graduation! Can we do it?

Waiting is hard.
And we tend to do it alot-both in seasons of pain and of joy.

There’s nothing like waiting for the arrival of a baby when you’ve been in labor for countless hours.
Or waiting for labor to begin at the end of a long pregnancy.
Waiting for test results.
Waiting to feel better….

The balance of waiting is hard too. How long do we wait before doing something? What if we intervene too soon? What if it’s too late?

The hardest part about waiting is not trying to “fix it”, Or expedite it, Or do something too soon. The wonder of time is that it passes all too fast and too slow at the same time.

It’s been a hard season of waiting. Waiting for answers of questions that have no answer. Waiting for my heart to heal from Tag. Waiting for clients to birth. Waiting for my body to heal.

Sometimes the only thing to do is be patient + hold onto the hope of what you called true when you werent waiting.

Thats what i’ve learned this week: define your truths (your might say your protocols) in moments when you are strong and clear-headed. Then in moments of weakness, when everything is tested, you know what to hold on to as you let the time pass, or when to intervene.

“Let gratitude be awakened,
Let humility by deepened,
Let love be quickened.” -Charles Spurgeon

This morning we enjoyed breakfast with reminiscing as we reflected on sweet memories and retelling of family stories and the values that make us who we are.
We shared stories of our grandparents and parents along with the hardships they have lived and our gratitude for them.

It led me to think about what love means to me.
To me, love is “be careful”, “let’s have coffee”, “I thought of you when…”.

What is love to you? What makes you feel loved and special?

My prayer is that you feel that way today.
