As cases of flu, RSV, COVID-19, and other respiratory illnesses rise during the colder months, it’s important to stay aware and take simple steps to protect ourselves and those around us.

Our Public Health Nursing team created this helpful flyer with the most common illnesses and easy prevention tips, from hand hygiene to ventilation and healthy habits.

🏋️ Get ready to boost your fitness with advanced exercises and methods led by health fitness specialist Emilio Gijon! Whether you prefer group sessions or 1-on-1 training, we've got you covered.

📅 These sessions are available to tribal members and tribal households, 18 and up. Join the Emilio for 16 sessions over 8 weeks to take your fitness to the next level.

🧑‍🏫 Want to learn more? Attend the info sessions on November 24 and December 8 at 6 PM. As a bonus, you'll have a chance to win a free Owala bottle!

🫂🫶 On behalf of the Public Health Division, we want to give a big thank you to the Cultural Center, vendors, Public Safety, HHS Clinic, IT, Indigenous Chefs, T’ai’u Hlioran Hurini (Tiwa Women’s Circle), Emergency Management, and the community for helping make this event all come together. A member of the Kickapoo Nation of Oklahoma, Chef Wahpepah is a celebrated chef, caterer, and owner of Wahpepah's Kitchen in Oakland, CA, bringing indigenous cuisine to the forefront.

🥗🌽 Healthy Snacks You Can Eat!

🌵💙 NDPP Cohort 6 enjoyed a special hands-on class with Chef Cheyenne, who guided participants in preparing a delicious nopal salad with homemade blue corn tostadas.

💧✨ Chef Cheyenne also shared the benefits of these nutrient-rich foods and explained their connection to culture, tradition, and a healthy lifestyle. Participants even got to taste a refreshing chayote water for natural hydration!

👏 Everyone brought their own healthy snacks to share, proudly demonstrating what they’ve learned throughout the NDPP program. It was a wonderful day of learning, teamwork, and culture-inspired nutrition!
