Welcome to the world baby girl! 👶🏻💗

Life’s been crazy! I had a third baby in the midst of a pandemic. I delivered via unmedicated VBAC when I was supposed to have a scheduled c-section a couple of weeks later!
I snapped this and had to share it! The early am milk versus pm milk. Am milk has higher water volume (hydration) versus pm milk has higher fat content (satiation and rest). Breastmilk is so fascinating!

This is amazing (preliminary) data!
Importance The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic has infected over a hundred million people worldwide, with almost 2.5 million deaths at the date of this publication. In the United States, Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines were first administered to the public starting in December 2020, and no lactating women....

Friendly Airports for Mothers (FAM) Act
Starting in 2021, all medium and large sized airports will be required to provide a private and clean space (that is not a restroom) in each terminal for the expression of breastmilk.
I love this so very much! 🤱🏻

Umbilical stump care.
Hi 👋🏼, I’m a RN & IBCLC, here to give you some information about how to care for baby’s umbilical stump during those early weeks.
▪️The umbilical stump will fall off naturally within 1-3 weeks after birth.
▪️Sometimes it falls off all at once (see second photo) and sometimes it falls off small pieces at a time.
▪️Signs of infection include redness/inflammation around the stump site, foul smelling discharge, fever (temperature of 100.4 F or higher). If you suspect infection contact your pediatrician.
▪️Scant bleeding is normal, excessive bleeding that requires holding pressure should be reported to your Pediatrician.
▪️Fold baby’s diaper *below* the umbilical stump to prevent irritation and contamination.
▪️Sponge bathe baby until the umbilical stump falls off. Keep the stump dry and avoid getting it wet.
▪️Avoid tight-fitting elastic bands that sit directly on the stump site.
▪️No need to apply any medication or creams to it unless directed by your Pediatrician.

Breastmilk supply.
One of the most important factors to keep in mind when it comes to maintaining and increasing milk supply is: MILK REMOVAL.
If milk remains within the breast, your body receives signals telling it that there is “unused milk” and this can lead to a slow in milk production.
There are other factors that come into play as well but this is one of the most basic concepts that is important for lactating mothers to understand.

I am a Registered Nurse; I graduated from Mount St. Mary’s Accelerated Bachelors of Science in Nursing program in 2012. After graduation I first worked in the Neurological and Medical Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with the goal of gaining skills and experience in the most critical of situations. In the ICU I performed CPR using the Advanced Care Life Support algorithm. Simply put, I have performed CPR on adult patients in critical condition in a hospital environment many times.
My father had been diagnosed with cancer years before and I felt passionate about spending some time working in oncology as a nurse. After working the in ICU, I began working on early and late phase clinical trials in the area of oncology. I became an Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) through the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC). I completed their study curriculum and passed the exam to enhance my knowledge in this area of nursing. Being a part of cutting-edge oncology treatments was very fulfilling. I witnessed some patients with Stage IV cancer receive trial treatments and go into complete remission!
In 2015 I gave birth to my first son and decided that I wanted to take my nursing career in a different direction. I had planned to have a vaginal delivery that ended in an emergency cesarean section after 4 hours of pushing! The nurses played a big role in my recovery and I decided that I wanted to explore this area of nursing. I was hired at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in 2015 and began working on the Mother/Baby (Post-partum) Unit. Working at Cedars-Sinai provided me with hands-on experience and great knowledge about newborn assessment, newborn care, breastfeeding and post-partum care for mother’s who have delivered both vaginally and by cesarean section.
In 2018 I decided to part ways with Cedars-Sinai. I gave birth to my second son and decided that I wanted to take my career in a different path that would allow me to spend more time with my own children but still work with mothers and newborn babies. I’m excited to start a new journey with South Bay Baby Care as my new business and I hope to share my knowledge and expertise with expectant and new parents in the areas of newborn care, breastfeeding, sleep routines, post-partum care, and CPR and First Aid.
Thank you for considering me to help you with your journey as a parent! I look forward to making this transition a bit easier for you and your baby.
