The Elburn Lions Club and Elburn Professional Firefighters Local 4749 are coming together to support Firefighter/Paramedic Zak Martinez, who was recently diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

Zak has proudly served the Elburn & Countryside Fire Protection District for four years and has been a full-time sworn firefighter/paramedic for the past two. Now it’s our turn to stand with him and his family.

🕑 Doors Open: 2:00 PM
🍽 Dinner: 4:30 PM – 6:30 PM
📍 Elburn Lions Club — 500 Filmore St., Elburn, IL

🎟 Admission (includes dinner):
• $20 Adults (13+)
• $10 Children (4–12)
• Under 4 Free

This will be a family-friendly event with kids activities, live entertainment, raffles, auction items, and a 50/50 drawing — all to help support Zak during his fight.

You can purchase tickets online using the QR code on the flyer or at the door the day of the event.

These 90 minute sessions are guided by our Caregiver Counselor Debbie Miller and focus on helping individuals caring for people with Dementia, Alzheimer's, and other similar conditions connect and learn tools for dealing with everyday stresses and concerns that may arise. An Important message for our Elburn area neighbors. Please see below from the Kane County Health Department.

The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (Illinois EPA) is notifying the owner and operator of the Elburn Community Water System (CWS) that there has been a detection of perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), a Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) compound, in the water sample collected on December 2, 2025 by the CWS and required by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) under the Fifth Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule (UCMR 5). The sample identified PFOA at 7.5 parts per trillion (ppt), which is above the federal Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) and the Illinois Class I groundwater quality standard of 4 ppt.
