We will be providing free specialty drinks from the wonderful Desert Sky Coffee. They will be set up near Bank of the Southwest in downtown TorC this Saturday, just look for their black beverage truck. Stop by and grab a drink of your choice while supplies last!

Did you know that there is a financial opportunity available to local caregivers?
The Lifespan 500 disbursement is a state program managed through the New Mexico Caregivers Coalition. This initiative provides $500 vouchers to caregivers assisting family members that require help with activities of daily living.

Because these funds are available to communities across the state, there is a sense of urgency for family caregivers to apply. Applications are awarded on a first come, first served basis, and the program will close once the funding is exhausted.

The $500 vouchers are versatile and designed to give family caregivers a true break. Allowable expenses include care services such as hiring a respite caregive or chore help. Funds can also be used for household support like meal delivery and emergency groceries or for comfort/technology items such as noise-canceling headphones, weighted blankets, and tablets.

To qualify, caregivers must provide medical documentation of the diagnosis.
County Outreach Managers are available to assist with the application, conduct required surveys, and help manage receipts. Once an application is approved, vouchers are typically mailed within seven days.

The Lifespan County Manager for Sierra County is Sharon Finarelli. Contact Sharon at sharon@nmdcc.org for questions, applications or help to get through the process. Several families have already applied for this benefit and have received payment.

🕯️A Blue Christmas Service is offered especially for those hurting during the holidays🕯️

“Blue Christmas" in hospice care refers to special memorial services held during the holidays to support those grieving the loss of a loved one, acknowledging that Christmas isn't joyful for everyone due to grief, and offering a space for quiet remembrance, candle lighting, supportive conversation, and shared hope, often around the winter solstice. Hospice organizations host these events because the festive atmosphere of Christmas can intensify feelings of loss, making a dedicated, comforting space crucial for healing, often incorporating scripture and spiritual.
