Dr. Jayesh Patil visited The Hip and Knee Center at OrthoIllinois this week from Shalby Hospital System in Ahmedabad, India.

He provided valuable insights as he studied how we perform our outpatient anterior hip replacements, and robotic assisted total knee replacements for a discharge home the same day.

Dr. Manuel Aguilar and Dr. Alejandro Aguilar are a father and son team of orthopedic surgeons. They are visiting from Capital City, Guatemala as guests of Signature Orthopaedics. Signature is a visionary technology and manufacturing company based in Sydney, Australia bringing access to high-quality medical care for patients around the world.

It is my pleasure to host them at THE HIP & KNEE CENTER this week as they learn efficiencies in outpatient joint replacement that they can bring home to Guatemala. Their country has a population of nearly 14,000,000 and only 30 orthopedic surgeons.

10 years ago, George had a tragic accident while vacationing in Greece, resulting in a broken hip. Although fixed in expert fashion while in Greece, he developed progressive arthritis and became disabled.

This morning at 9 AM George underwent an outpatient total hip replacement at our surgery center to relieve his pain and restore his function.

He will be walking fully weight bearing before he has lunch and home by this afternoon.

This morning I performed the first outpatient total knee replacement at our new surgical facility in Elgin. It was a model of efficiency, technology, and expertise. There is nothing else like it. We look forward to many years of great outcomes for our patients.

Simultaneous double knee replacement is not for everyone. John was confident in our plan and underwent our outpatient double knee replacement eight days ago. Today in the office, he is walking without assistance and well on his way to recovery.
