Aurora Resendez

Aurora Resendez beloved widow, mother, grandmother, and devoted Christian, passed away October 1,2025, surrounded by her family.

Aurora was born on August 9, 1939, Aurora met her first husband Raul Hasete and married him on August 21, 1960, sharing a journey together filled with devotion, faith, and family until Raul’s passing in 1965.

Together, they were blessed with four children: Esmeralda Mancera, Andres Hasete, Gilbert Hasete, and Diane Besa.

On December 21, 1973, Aurora married her second husband David Resendez in Lockhart, TX. They built a home together in Elgin, Tx until David’s passing in 1988. Together, they were blessed with two children: Martha Matos, Ruth Drackley.

Aurora’s greatest joy in life was caring for her family and walking faithfully with the Lord. She lived each day with a steadfast devotion to her Christian faith, and her example of love, prayer, and trust in God continues to inspire all who knew her.

She will be remembered for her faith, generosity, and strength. Aurora’s legacy lives on through her children, grandchildren, and all whose lives she touched with kindness and grace.

Aurora is survived by daughters Esmeralda Mancera, Son Andres Hasette and wife Toni, Son Gilbert Hasette and wife Susan, Daughter Diane Besa and husband Richard Besa, daughter Martha Matos, daughter Ruth Drackley and husband Todd Drackley. Grandchildren Esther Hasette, Jessica Hasette, Jeanette Hasette, Crystal Besa, Julie Hasette, Eddie Mancera, Janelle Hasette, Angelica Pineda, Raul Hasette, Adela Castro, James Besa, Gilbert Hasette, Alisa Pineda, Aurora Marie Resendez, David Rivera, Alexander Matos, Andres Juan Hasette. Forty great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren and sister Martha Resendez

Aurora is proceeded in death by her second husband, David Resendez (d:1988), First husband, Raul Hasete (d:1965), her mother Leonora Torres, father Daniel Cantu, brother Jose Cantu, sisters Bellia Garza, Elida Herrera, Guadalupe Gonzalez, Felicia Hernandez and grand daughter Ali Betancourt.

A visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Sunday, October 5, 2025, Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home, with a Prayer Service beginning at 7:00 PM. Services to honor Aurora’s life will be held at Providence-Jones Funeral Family Home on Monday October 6, 2025, at 11am with burial following at Elgin Latin Cemetery. Aurora will be deeply missed, but her loved ones and faith will forever live on in the hearts of her family.

Carlos será recordado por ser un gran ejemplo para sus hijos, por su comportamiento tranquilo y por ser un marido, padre, abuelo y hermano fuerte y solidario. A pesar de la distancia entre familiares y amigos, se mantuvo presente para tener una impresión duradera en aquellos en su vida.

El velatorio se llevará a cabo el Miercoles, 8 de Octubre de 2025, de 02:00 a 08:00 PM, en la Funeraria Familiar Providence-Jones, con el rezo del Santo Rosario a las 06:00 PM. El entierro se celebrará el Jueves, 09 de Octubre de 2025 a las 10:00 AM en la Iglesia Católica del Sagrado Corazón de Elgin (302 W 11th St, Elgin, TX 78621, Estados Unidos). El entierro se realizará posteriormente en el Cementerio Cook-Walden/Capital Parks de Pflugerville.

Carlos was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters, and one daughter.

He leaves behind 33 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Carlos will be remembered for being a great example to his children, for his calm demeanor & being strong and supportive husband, father, grandfather, brother. Despite the distance between family and friends he remained to have a lasting impression in those in his life.

A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 08, 2025, from 02:00 to 8:00 PM at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 PM. A Celebration of Mass Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 09, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elgin (302 W 11th St, Elgin, TX 78621, United States). Interment will follow at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville.

In Loving Memory of Debra Dean “Dee Dee” Barton

January 26, 1954 – October 4, 2025

Debra Dean “Dee Dee” Barton, age 71, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 4, 2025.

Born on January 26, 1954, Dee Dee lived a life full of love, dedication, and service. She retired in 2010 from The University of Texas to care for her beloved mother—a true testament to her selfless and compassionate nature.

Dee Dee also served for many years as a Head Judge for the International Barbeque Cookers Association (IBCA), where she formed countless friendships and created lasting memories in a community she deeply cherished.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Robert “Bob” Barton; daughters Stacey Gruetzner (Jason) and Roxanne Miller; stepdaughters Amanda Barton and Leslie Barton; brother Mark Lewis; and loving aunt Sandra (James) Noe, and grandchildren Tyler & Ian Jasek, Morgan (Payton) Simank, Zane Conder, Kaytlyn Polivka, Emily Barton, Tenley Witt, and Mason Rinehart, and her great-granddaughter Skylar Simank.

Dee Dee was preceded in death by her parents, Phil and Bess Lewis; her brother, Randy Lewis; and her stepdaughter, Stacy Barton.

Her warmth, humor, and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She wasn’t perfect, but she was part of our story. Her presence shaped who we are, and for that, we’re grateful.

Private Graveside Services will be held at the Oakhill Cemetery in Smithville.
