Leading nonprofit global association for professionals providing equine-assisted psychotherapy.
Eagala Certification is The Global Standard for Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and Personal Development. Join the Eagala Network of over 4,500 members in 50 countries who are changing lives through the unique intuitive power of horses. Under The Eagala Model, both a licensed, certified Mental Health Professional and a certified Equine Specialist work together collaboratively at all times to assure clients get the therapeutic attention and support they need as they make life changes. The Eagala Model is built on the premise that it's the client who best determines the kinds of life changes they need to make in order to improve their life. The job of the Eagala treatment team is to put The Eagala Model to work to meet the client's goals by engaging the sensitivity of horses to help them understand their process and practice the changes they want to make in a safe, supportive setting. Because all Eagala sessions are done on the ground - there is no riding involved - this work provides a growing opportunity for horses of all abilities to have a role and purpose. This amazing work benefits the lives of both the horses and humans. Through your support, we can continue to expand access to these services worldwide.

Getting an Eagala Military designation requires 30 hours of cultural competence training. We are often asked by Eagala members who weren't part of the military but want to support the military in their practices, "How do I get these hours?"
Recently, several of our members offered the following suggestions:
- "In my area they have an annual program 'Veterans Voices' where veterans read stories , poems and music about their experiences. Also, you can look up Big Lux...
he is a veteran who does hip hop music with a violin expressing the conflict between being back at home and being in a combat zone."
- "PsychArmor webinars and videos... joining your local CVEB (Community Veterans Engagement Board) ... attending their meetings. Also, engaging with (in the U.S.) State Veteran Services Boards."
Hi! We asked this "Question of the Week" back in mid December via our e-newsletter, Word in the Herd, and we were pleasantly surprised by the response. We wanted the question to get maximum exposure, so we're sharing it here. (For those of you who already responded, no need to answer again!!)
As Eagala has supported specific groups, like the veterans/military and addiction-focused facilities, we’re interested to connect with and support other niche groups. Recently, we’ve noticed a steady turnout of individuals from tribal nations becoming Eagala certified. We are humbly pleased by this and want to reach out to our herd to hear from anyone who has worked or is working with and for this specific population. We want to best understand needs and culture, so that our understanding is as comprehensive as possible.
QUESTION: Are you working with indigenous people - individually or collectively - and/or specific tribal nations, and, if so, would you be willing to hop on a zoom call to help enlighten the Eagala staff/admin team?"
To respond, please send Glenna a message at equine@eagala.org, as she's compiling the list of respondents who indicated that they'd be happy to share insight and advice.
Thank you in advance for helping us connect in the most appropriate ways with more tribal nations and indigenous people to raise their awareness of Eagala, the global standard in EAP.

Today is Human Trafficking Awareness Day. How does the Eagala Model help victims of crime and trafficking? The Eagala blog post linked below provides some solid insight.
If you are an EAP professional who is providing or wants to provide healing support to individuals who have been trafficked, then spread the word of this proven path to recovery by liking and sharing this post and/or linking the Eagala blog to your own social media and website.
Wide-open spaces support focused learning. March 25–29, Eagala Fundamentals Training comes to Reno, NV at Leads with Horses.
This immersive training emphasizes experiential learning in the arena, where horses offer immediate insight into boundaries, regulation, and relationship.
Many mental health professionals advise their clients about the value of journaling as a tool for healing. Journaling can help us all with mental clarity, stress reduction, and self awareness. In this private space, you'll process emotions, identify patterns, and boost your problem-solving skills (we LOVE all of these benefits!).
Gift yourself a beautiful Eagala journal to start reaping the benefits of putting thoughts to paper.
