Out of office. Into the woods. 🌲✨

This week my family is seeking dirt trails, campfires, and a little off-grid quiet.

So grateful for this community that allows us the space to step away, slow down, and refill our cups.

Time in nature is one of the most powerful ways to support nervous system regulation. No notifications. No rushing. Just fresh air, long breaths, and the kind of calm our bodies were designed for.

Self-care isn’t indulgent. It’s essential. For you. For me and for the way I show up to care for you.

We’ll be working from home with my gremlins and back in the office Tuesday, ready to serve!

Your pelvic floor check might start at your feet!

Surprised? Most people wonder why I care about their feet.

How your foot hits the ground, especially how you roll off and move over your big toe affects your walking, it can change the way force travels up your leg and into your hip and ultimately how load is managed through your pelvic floor.

If the big toe can’t extend well, or you can’t put weight over it, or your shoe limit, how your foot move your body will compensate!

That’s why in pelvic floor physical therapy we look at feet and shoes too. Because your pelvic floor is part of a whole movement system and not an isolated muscle group.

Sometimes improving your symptoms starts from the ground up!

Have you ever thought about how your shoes affect your health? Or what your wear pattern can tell about how you manage load?

Bridal Expo Day! 💍✨
One of the biggest myths I hear at events like this is:
“Pelvic floor therapy is only for women who’ve had babies.”

Not true.
You do not have to be pregnant, postpartum, or planning kids to benefit from pelvic floor care.
In fact, many of the women I see in their teens, 20s, and 30s (no babies!) come in for things like:

• Pain with intimacy
• Tampon discomfort
• Constipation or bowel straining
• Urinary urgency or feeling like you always have to go
• Leaking with workouts, running, or sneezing
• Pelvic pain, tailbone pain, or hip pain
• Core weakness or back pain that won’t go away
• Painful periods or endometriosis symptoms

These are common, but not normal and not OK

Your pelvic floor is part of your core, your bladder, your bowel, and your sexual health. It deserves attention at every stage of life… not just after childbirth.

So if you’re here planning a wedding but quietly dealing with any of the above, know this:
You don’t have to wait. And you don’t have to live with it. 🤍

Come say hi at our booth today or reach out via phone, I'd love to chat!

So much of pelvic health lives at the intersection of body and mind. While I’m often working “bottom up” with the pelvic floor, breath, and nervous system through the body mental health therapists are doing powerful “top down” work, helping patients process stress, trauma, and emotional patterns.

And the truth is… both matter. Some people may be willing to start at the top, others at the bottom and that's okay.

When we collaborate, communicate, and refer to each other, our patients get more complete care. Care that actually addresses the whole person, not just one piece of the puzzle.

Better outcomes happen when we work together.

Grateful to be part of a community that values connection and collaboration. 💛

Here’s a little DIY, a pool noodle cut and repurposed for external pelvic floor, relaxation and release.

Low-tech doesn’t mean low impact, in fact, simple tools like this can be really effective.

Give this a try if you have pelvic floor tension, tailbone, pain, or pain with prolonged sitting.

You don’t always need expensive equipment to feel better, you just need the right strategy. Pelvic floor therapy is about being creative, practical, and choosing the things that you are most likely to do.

In 2012 I was in Ireland for St. Patrick's Day!

A few of my PT classmates and I were there for a broadening experience, to see how physical therapy is practiced differently around the world or in different settings.

During our time I helped with a labor & delivery workshop held by the physios at the hospital. Little did I know that a decade later I'd be change the course of my trajectory to focus on pelvic health.

Cheers & Happy St. Patrick's day y'all!

Recently, one of my patients told me that during labor she had been using some of the techniques that we worked on, and things were going well, but her provider demanded that she deliver laying down on her back😤

Laying on her back with her legs up gave her tailbone pain and slowed her progression. So why are we still being asked to deliver this way?

The research, and the American college of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) are clear that no single position should be mandated during labor.

in fact, studies show that people who use more upright positions during labor, tend to have a shorter first stage of labor and be less likely to have a cesarean delivery!

Your body was designed to move during labor. That might look like rocking, swaying, squatting, leaning, or using a birth ball.

That’s why we are hosting movement flow for birth! In this workshop, we will go over:
⭐️ stretches and mobility exercise exercises to help hips and pelvic floor prepare for birth
⭐️ movement flows and positions that can support labor
⭐️ways to use props or yoga balls
⭐️answer your burning questions!

if you are pregnant, or newly postpartum and want to feel more confident and comfortable in your body, we’d love to see you there!

Ever been told to “Just do kegels!”

Not here!

Pelvic health is not a one size fit’s all and it’s not just about squeezing your pelvic floor over and over again!

Depending on what your body needs, pelvic floor therapy might involve
💪🏼glute and hip strengthening
💪🏼core coordination
💪🏼breathing mechanics
💪🏼spinal mobility
💪🏼balance and movement patterns
💪🏼learning how to lengthen pelvic floor!

Your pelvic floor is part of a system, so the best exercise doesn’t always look like a pelvic floor exercise. We work on the system to get you feeling your best!

Therapy with a baby in tow? Totally welcome here 👋🏼

Some days that means pausing for a feeding, rocking a stroller with 1 foot, or doing exercises with your little one on a mat next to us.

Do we get as much done? No
Can we pivot and work on things that include your little one? Absolutely.

We still make progress, and we have a good time doing it. However you need to make it work, we’ll make space for it.

Taking care of yourself matters, Especially in the busy season of motherhood!

💪🏼 Share this with a friend, sister, daughter or another woman in your life who deserves to understand her body better too!

Unfortunately, most women don’t understand their own anatomy very well. And that’s not our fault. Most of us were never taught what’s actually there, how it works, or what’s considered normal or not normal.

Understanding your anatomy isn’t just interesting, it’s empowering! When you know how your body is designed, it becomes easier to recognize when something feels off, to communicate clearly with healthcare providers, and to advocate for your health!

Introducing Movement Flow for Birth 🤍

If you’re pregnant and wondering how to actually prepare your body for birth, this class is for you.

This hands-on workshop is designed by a pelvic floor physical therapist to help you:
🌿 Learn movement and stretching that supports labor
🌿 Use yoga balls and positions that help baby descend
🌿 Reduce tension in the hips and pelvic floor
🌿 Feel more confident in your body going into birth

Because preparing for birth isn’t just about what you know, it’s about how your body can move, release, and work with labor.

We’ll be using our new wall of yoga balls and mats to guide you through movements you can practice throughout pregnancy and during labor. 🙌

✨ Spots are limited, so grab yours early!
