‘Twas the morning after snowfall,
when all through our grounds,
A blanket of white
lay silent & sound.
The rooftops were dusted,
each pathway lined bright,
As winter’s calm magic
settled in overnight.
Inside Twiford Funeral Homes,
where warm lights softly glowed,
The toys were all nestled
in barrels neatly stowed.
Each doll and each truck rested,
snugly in place,
Awaiting the military convoy
that would soon reach their place,
On a mission from Santa
to carry them from this space,
To children who’d wake
with joy on their face.
Our partners had given with hearts warm and generous,
Ensuring that children felt the magic of Christmas,
Community partners donated funds to buy toys,
Their kindness, their trust,
and generosity too,
Turned hope into presents
for our brave military crew.
At our Community Collection Sites
in windows and halls,
Toys collected in barrels and piles
by patrons of all.
They gave from the heart,
making kindness overflow,
Each gift a reminder
of how goodwill can grow.
Our Twiford staff,
elves at the ready,
Coordinated the campaign
with devotion always steady.
They sorted each toy
as donations arrived,
Ensuring this mission
continued to thrive.
Then out in the crisp air,
beneath skies glowing gray,
The convoy arrived
for the mission today.
Boots stepped through the snow
as they walked with great care,
Ready to gather
the joy waiting there.
Sent by Santa himself,
they collected each toy,
To deliver warm magic
to every girl and boy.
With gratitude shining
and spirits held high,
They loaded the gifts
‘neath the bright winter sky.
And throughout our community,
generosity ran deep,
you’ve given hope freely
for memories to keep.
This campaign was successful
because of our friends,
Whose kindness ensured
Christmas joy spreads.
Now, soon, on the morning
when Christmas arrives,
There’ll be children delighted,
with sparkle-filled eyes.
Thanks to your giving,
your hearts, and your cheer,
There’ll be happy military children
on Christmas morning again this year.
And David “Big Daddy“ Twiford exclaimed,
as he rode out of sight,
Merry Christmas to all,
and to all a good night!
